CDZ The best strategy for the democrats going forward? Start making deals with Trump, stop attacking

They sure as hell won't do this before the election.

And after the election, if Trump wins, who knows. He won't have to worry about pleasing the base any more, so things could get interesting.

Four years and you, the far left, have yet to catch on.

Unlike Democrats who pigeon hole their base into little cubicles, then they formulate appeals to each which they drag out every four years in personal appeals to each group. They believe that "everyone" does it that way, which may have been true until Donald Trump came along.

Donald Trump just came forward with common sense and a sincere presentation. Then he's just gone out and done the job, successfully. The Democrats just can't figure out how to counter sincerity!

Trump wasn't a conservative, he wasn't a democrat or republican...not really. Ask Rush Limbaugh.....he knows Trump and told us that Trump didn't really care about the parties.......

But what he is is a deal maker....and had the democrats simply worked with him, they could have gotten a lot of what they wanted....

For conservatives....it worked out great that they went on the attack...non stop attack........because they taught Trump what democrats are all about...

But.....

Going forward....what is their best move....? I would advise them to approach him to make deals...on the Wall, on Healthcare.......cause if they continue on the path they are on now.....the "Trump Boomerang" effect is not going to be pretty....
Good idea. Tip O'Neill made deals with Reagan. Gingrich made deals with Clinton. Why not?

Why not?

Can Trump be trusted to keep a deal?

I say that because I remember that there was a "deal" regarding funding the wall in return for DACA and at the last minute he reneged.

Plus, given the way he walked out of two established deals - Iran and Paris Accords has to make it questionable that he would keep a deal. He could change his mind at any time.
Iran and Paris deals sucked.

Again - how can he be trusted to keep a deal?
100%.

Trump is no deal maker, or at least not a very good one (how many of his deals went belly up?). Also his deals are in his interest, not those of the country. Look what he did for Israel, he recognized their sovereignty over the Golan Heights and their capital as Jerusalem. Ignoring the morality and legality of those decisions, what did the US get in return? Are we closer or farther from a peace deal?

Trump is tough to deal with since he has no problem lying about facts, reneging on deals, and abruptly changing his position in response to how the wind is blowing.

Not a very good deal maker? It seems to me that he's doing a great job.

As you know, failed former President Barack Hussein Obama and George Bush both had promised to move our embassy to Jerusalem. President fulfilled his promise.

The U.S. manufacturing sector appears to be regaining its footing, suggesting the beaten-down sector may once again be expanding.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s survey-based index of manufacturing activity soared to 17 in January, up from the weak 0.3 reading in December and well-above forecasts for a reading of 3.0.

US-China phase 1 trade deal: Beijing agrees to buy $200 billion in US products
By Michelle Toh, CNN Business
11 hrs ago [Jan 16. 2020]

China has agreed to buy hundreds of billions of dollars worth of products from the United States as part of their "phase one" trade deal.

The agreement signed Wednesday will have Beijing purchase an additional $200 billion of US goods and services over the next two years.

The increase in purchases will be compared to 2017, before the trade war started. China imported over $185 billion in total US goods and services that year.

In exchange, Washington has agreed to reduce tariffs on $120 billion in Chinese products from 15% to 7.5%.

Taken together, the phased purchases by China would result in a dramatic surge in US exports. Total exports to China would increase to over $260 billion in 2020, and roughly $310 billion in 2021 if the deal holds

Trump may say he is doing a great job but you should check into it yourself.
  • The embassy move was a 'gift' not a 'deal'. In a deal the US would have gotten something in return. Did we, aside from a hearty 'thank you'.
  • The trade 'deal' was a typical Trump deal. He raised tariffs so the Chinese stopped buying our goods. Then he makes a deal to lower tariffs and the Chinese say they will buy more goods. A Chinese fire drill that ends up with everyone exactly where they started.
  • So Trump snubs Pelosi, the one who got the deal passed by the House. Trump gets revenge but makes Pelosi even less inclined to deal with Trump. Who won in that deal?

Yes, please check yourself.

YOU brought up the move of the embassy.

You obviously are ignorant about the China deal as well as the one with Mexico, USA, and Canada.

Who won the State of the Union message?

Border Wall ‘Off the Table,’ Schumer Says, as Immigration Progress Unravels
By Sheryl Gay Stolberg and Maggie Haberman
Jan. 23, 2018
  • WASHINGTON — Senate negotiators found themselves back at Square 1 on immigration on Tuesday, as the Senate Democratic leader withdrew the biggest gesture he had made to strike a deal: an offer to fully fund President Trump’s proposed wall at the Mexican border.
“The wall offer’s off the table,” the leader, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, told reporters at the Capitol a day after senators overcame an impasse to end a three-day government shutdown.

Mr. Schumer’s decision to renege, made on Sunday but revealed publicly on Tuesday, marked another turn in the fluid debate over how to shield from deportation hundreds of thousands of young immigrants brought to the country illegally as children.

Trump,of course. Pelosi doesn't know jack about Business. Remember ObamaCare? "Pass it now.We can understand it later".

She held up Trump's deal for months before she put her fingerprints all over it. The deal maker was powerless to push it through. I don't know what she knows about business but she sure knows politics.
