Taking a break from politics. Ever notice how country music has deteriorated over the last couple of years? You can't tell country from Frankie and Annette Beach Blanket Bingo anymore. Female country singers like Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette used to have some grit. Now you have barbie dolls with squeaky voices and million dollar electronic devices. The junk passing for country hits like "I love you this big" and "Mr Mom" sure don't sound like "A country boy can survive". I guess 15 year old girls are buying all the CD's these days.

3 country (or so called) artists I cannot stand

-Lady Antebellum: depressing and not even country

-Taylor Swift- not country, teen pop.

-Reba MacEntire: depressing

Yep ever since it deviated from the Carter Family, Lester Flat/Earl Scruggs, Tennesse Ernie Ford and such it has been crap.

Country needs another Johnny Cash.

and, quickly before Willie Nelson dies.

Reba is OK. Depressing is good, teen pop is crap. George Strait used to have some great rodeo stuff like Amarillo by morning but lately it's all fluff. Willie paid his dues. Legends don't have to apologize. The song Cherokee Fiddle says it all. "Now the music is sold by lawyers".

Cash was a slick media hustler masquerading as a country bumpkin. Nothing wrong with that. He let people think he did hard time in the slammers because it was good for his image. Merle Haggard was what Cash pretended to be. Haggard was an inmate in San Quenton when Johnnie did one of his first prison concerts.

I grew up with pop music but I guess I abandoned it for country when radical rock and disco and later droopy drawers hip hop dominated the air waves. Sooner or later the big bucks people had to take over the industry and country is barely hanging on to it's identity but what else is left? As long as overweight girls who can't get a date for the prom buy the country CD's we will listen to the crap with an occasional good song.
