The primary role of government, contrary to some on here, is NOT to spend money, it is to protect your citizens.

Credit to Abbott for taking this oath and duty seriously.

The Texas government will resume construction of a wall on the state's border with Mexico, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.

The announcement comes after an extended period of negotiation between Texas officials and private property owners for the construction of infrastructure on their land.

"More border wall is going up next month," said Abbott. "It took months to negotiate with private property owners on the border for the right to build on their property.

He added, "We now should be building more border wall all of next year."

Good. Texas can feel free to waste their taxpayer's dollars as much as it wants.

That ought to do it. Glad to know Texas will have no illegal immigration by the end of next year as shown by the dramatic decrease in illegal immigration with this year, with the walls that are already up.

2 constants on the border this century so far are that every time conservatives get border walls built illegal immigration goes up

Hmmmm. OK, there is that of course. Maybe Gov Abbott doesn't take the paper or have cable. His state though, so if that is how he wants to spend Texas taxpayer money, more power to him and good luck.

Regarding the meeting where one person called the illegals "thieves". I rented to Mexicans for many years. They were decent, hardworking families, who paid their rent and kept their apartments clean and neat. However, if I left any tools around they would steal them in a minute. They even cut the lock off my storage shed and stole a $1500 snow thrower.

Thievery is actually a cultural thing in many parts of the world. While stationed in Korea I discovered that stealing from the U.S. military was a sport for the Koreans.

I am hoping the property owners got $1000 per square foot. They are entitled to it. Build that wall on my property you are going to pay through the nose.

They meant to say a border wall on the state side of the border, the federal border comes first then the state border.

Walls are built to climb and dig under!
Speaking of that, did you see the thread about El Paso having illegal aliens coming up out the sewers and manholes. Sounds like the tunnel rats are working hard.

It seem the walls are working well…

Texas to resume border wall construction after reaching deals with private property owners, Abbott says
Conservatives continue to demonstrate their racism, bigotry, and hate.

And their contempt for sound, responsible governance.

Building a ‘wall’ is a waste of public funds and resources; it won’t do anything to address the issue of immigration – it’s meaningless political theater and pandering to the racism, bigotry, and hate of the Republican base.
