I wasn't in favor of this bill and still aren't, but it is what it is. I did not favor, due to lack of training, certification, background check and permit ID, all are safety issues. But, like I said, it is what it is. It goes into effect July 1. Anybody in Tennessee over 21 years of age, (18 if member of military) not a felon or judged to be mentally incompetent can carry a handgun, concealed or open in places they can legally be, where they are allowed to carry in the state.I have been permit carrying for years, so it does not effect me directly. Of course my permit allows me to travel in 23 states that have reciprocity with Tennessee's carry permit.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signs constitutional carry bill into law

You would have to be 21 to legally carry, or 18 if you're active duty military, and there would be restrictions against people with certain convictions like DUI's and stalking.

“This bill is a great step forward in the advancement of self-defense rights and Second Amendment freedoms for all Tennessee gun owners,” said NRA-ILA Executive Director Jason Ouimet. “It simply means law-abiding Tennessean’s no longer have to pay a tax to exercise the right of self-protection.”

Law enforcement has come out against the bill in part because Federal background checks
amount to a last line of defense without the state requiring a permit.

the training issue can be easily solved by put it back in the schools and youth groups like it used to be,, and making it more common to own a gun instead of what the government is doing by demonizing it,,

Not sure about the specifics of their law, but I bet they can't carry within 1,000 feet of a school zone. Only those with permits are allowed to do that here.

For the asshole who claims to know so much about case law, you know nothing about what the word "license" means.

Look it up in Black's Law Dictionary, gasbag.

I thinks so, and I wrote and told my state Senator and Representative. One I knew was a wasted effort as he was a sponsor of part of the legislation. Hey, it will be fine.
