Do you live in Tennessee ? Do you own a gun ?

And happen to think it sure would be nice to have a law enforcement designation but without bothering learning things like “the law” or go to a “police academy”

Well, you are in luck

No thanks. Look at what they do to cops just for doing their jobs!!!!!!!!!!! No way in hell I want to deal with liberal asshats because I did the right thing and stopped a criminal.

Wow, what a pack of lies. All the bill does is allow people, who have received training, to carry in places others aren't allowed. They are not given law enforcement authority. Did you bother to actually read the damn article?

.

I willing to bet that there would be a big influx of criminal lawyers to the area.
LOL!! You can't get blood from a stone, and "the law says what it says".
I'll bet there is protection for "deputies" acting in good faith to stop criminality.

Like when Trump and the GOP was supposed to make nationwide carry laws instead of the patchwork of reciprocity.

This level of stupid is astounding.

Is there???
No clue, but without some kind of legal protection for crime stoppers acting in good faith, we're back to "stand your ground" laws. An "enhanced carry permit" probably only refers to off duty police officers, MPs and such. Not any permit holder. The only way to stop a crime in-progress is to shoot the perp. Even real cops have problems with perps resisting arrest. Its an interesting idea, but it probably would turn cities into the Wild West.

From the article in the OP:

State Sen. Joey Hensley, who introduced the state Senate version of the bill, told ABC News that the goal of the bill was to allow enhanced gun permit carriers to carry their weapons into locations where off-duty law enforcement enter, such as a store or restaurant that prohibits guns inside their business. Hensley said the bill would not allow enhanced permit holders to bring their weapons into courts or schools.

"This is trying to open it up so that people who go to the extreme to get this extra permit can have the right to defend themselves in more places," the senator told ABC News Thursday.

Damn people read the article.

Once again from the article in the OP:

Under Tennessee's gun rules, an adult civilian resident can apply for an enhanced gun permit, which allows for both open and concealed carry, by paying a $100 fee and providing an eight-hour handgun safety course certificate.
Several groups of residents can get an exemption to the training, including registered armed guards, members of the military and veterans, according to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

what could possibly go wrong?
In an era where shops being burnt and looted and innocent pedestrians and drivers are beaten to pulp and it is collectively referred to as a peaceful protest, how and why could you ask such a question?

Agreed, hence the influx of criminal lawyers
