The Washington Post article that is linked to said that they go back to court on April 20th. Juveniles can be held until the age of 21 but I haven't seen that in a very long time. The younger girl cannot be tried as an adult. The older one could be transferred if she has a history. The following is from the WaPo article:

So, maybe.

I wonder if there really is no DOC for juveniles or if this is a misunderstanding on the part of the reporter thinking it's an adult prison. I'm not sure how or why anyone would want to hold kids in a kiddie jail for that long.

At any rate, it doesn't appear that anything has been set in stone. They still might go to trial. I would hope they wind up in the DOC.
