What an anti-science banana republic Red Joe Biden has created! Corrupt unions are writing the CDC's guidelines for them, based not on science, but on the financial interests of the union.

The American Federation of Teachers, led by Randi Weingarten, appears to have successfully lobbied the CDC to recommend that schools stay closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic despite the growing body of evidence showing that schools are not significant vectors of the disease.

The New York Post obtained emails between Biden administration officials and representatives of the AFT, which donated $20 million to Democratic politicians last year. According to the Post:

The [AFT’s] lobbying paid off. In at least two instances, language “suggestions” offered by the union were adopted nearly verbatim into the final text of the CDC document.
With the CDC preparing to write that schools could provide in-person instruction regardless of community spread of the virus, Trautner argued for the inclusion of a line reading “In the event of high community-transmission results from a new variant of SARS-CoV-2, a new update of these guidelines may be necessary.” That language appeared on page 22 of the final CDC guidance.
The AFT also demanded special remote work concessions for teachers “who have documented high-risk conditions or who are at increased risk for … COVID-19,” and that similar arrangements should extend to “staff who have a household member” with similar risks. A lengthy provision for that made it into the text of the final guidance.

How did the NYPost get the eMails?

Part of the problem is average citizens do not understand how difficult it is to write directive systems (legislation). You have to get people who are familiar with the issue and the demographic groupings affected. They have to know how to write. They have to be familiar with all the possible terminologies.

Very complicated stuff.

What?

Why are you defending this travesty?

Writing a directive system is fine, but if it doesn't acknowledge the science, it is nothing but trash.

Demographics are meaningless when you ignore basic scientific precepts about contagious diseases.

The psychology of the demographic must also be taken into account. And what these teachers are doing is nothing short of abusing these children. Robbing them of forming meaningful friendships and exercising their right to socialize with their peers.

This is pure intellectual robbery.

I missed the part where it's ok for a public union to give scientific directives to the CDC.

Teachers always support the DNC. I really don't see having teachers develop guidelines for re-openings as problematic. It makes more sense than having coal miners decide for schools.

Well, that's silly. They don't know anything about how schools run.....:heehee:
