Teacher Allegedly Asked Student To Walk Sick Classmates To Nurse; Student Later Dies From COVID

That is one horrific story. If true and I stress "if". If it is true, and the teacher had little girl assigned to escort sick children to the nurse in lieu of an adult being sent to escort the sick kids, and then had the little girl assigned to pick up the books, belongings and book bag of kids to sick to stay and being taken home, the teacher is most definitely to blame for the sickness and death of the child.
I agree. Kids are not cognizant of protocol and they are not trained in how to handle a situation like that.

A nurse would have been far more careful and had the kind of training to handle it as safely as possible.

That said

"Thirteen children have died from COVID-19 throughout the state, according to the agency."

I thought kids couldn't get covid and even if they did wouldn't die from it. Wasn't that the argument for not having mask policies in schools?

By the way...this poor kid was NOT obese. Pudgy and obese are very different things.

We have had a few, here in TN. This "D" variant seem more easily picked up by young people than the original couple of strains. I think public health officials and school system administrators really need to be on their toes, possibly more than when they were doing the shutdowns last year. I don't think they need to be shutting down, but sick kids should be gotten away from healthy, immediately.

That should be masking, socially distancing and teachers should be vaccinated

LOL yes sure. Tell us, in scientific terms, how does a young kid “die from COVID” when they literally don’t have the cell types in their lungs for the respiratory infection to take hold on?
True. Sounds like contrived bullshit.

Remember when conservatives clutched their pearls and fainted over Michelle Obama having the audacity to encourage children to exercise?

But yea...that kid was fat...she had it coming....why didn't her parents encourage her to exercise
Biff, you ain't right, dude. Kids don't "have it coming".

"School administrators are investigating whether a teacher had tasked a fifth-grader, Teresa Sperry, who died of coronavirus complications last week to walk sick students to the nurse. The student’s school has a rule for how to handle children with COVID-19 symptoms, and only adults are supposed to accompany them. Teresa, a 10-year-old who attended Hillpoint Elementary School died last Monday; her symptoms began with a headache but escalated quickly; five days later, she stopped breathing and couldn’t be revived, her parents Nicole and Jeff Sperry said.

Sperrys said their daughter told them the week before she died that a teacher had given her the responsibility of walking students to the nurse. “That was her classroom job,” her father told The Virginian-Pilot on Wednesday. Her mother added: “And she said that if the kids were sick and needed to go home, she had to go get their book bag and take it back.” Both parents said they are vaccinated, though Jeff Sperry has a break-through case of COVID-19 following his daughter’s illness."

To be fair, what's the problem with having a fellow classmate walk a sick child to the nurse? Kids are far less likely to catch COVID and even less likely to die from it; so it makes sense to have the kids serve as the first line of defense against it. Also, how do we know that this kid really died from COVID?? I mean let's be honest, how healthy was she? She may have had other underlying issues that caused her death - and if she did die from COVID, she may have caught it from her vaccinated parents; as we all know the data is clear that vaccinated people are the main ones spreading the more deadly strain of the virus

The best solution to COVID is to ignore it and rely on our body's own natural immunity. Will some die, perhaps..yes, even kids....but for the greater good, it is worth it...that is what survival of the fittest is all about. ...but remember, this is just one isolated case -- my friend's cousin's uncle's co-worker's sister recently got the vaccine and her arm fell off...which is just more definitive proof that it is the vaccine that is the problem, not this virus.
The Shock is that public school teachers assign all of their work to students ---my daughter was the bright one in her classes in elementary school....I made sure that she was reading etc before she even started pre-k---so instead of the teachers building on this, they assigned my daughter to be the one that took care of the problem kids that were behind and were largely behinds so the teacher could free herself up and not have to deal with them. And we wonder why public schools fail?

This said...kids spread diseases all over and especially with the Delta, even if the this girl hadn't walked the sick girl to the nurse, she would have contacted the virus as did many other kids in the class I am sure---just that this one being obese and probably a few other issues already in life was affected more than the others. I don't see her wearing a mask btw.......

Kids get covid...just usually covid doesn't affect them if they are normal healthy kids---this girl was chubby (and I was a chubby kid too) but she also looks to me to have kidney issues (swollen face, sunken eyes)........and by the looks of her family, none of them ate veggies ( you need the vitamins and minerals to fight off virus's) besides corn and potatoes. Most kids just get covid show no signs and likely develop antibodies.

Chubby? That’s the new victim shaming?

She was about fucking normal.

You people are fucked up

I don't remember that. I do agree with her if she did. And I agree with the change in school food menus. But she must have forgotten the corruption and the not caring attitude of many contractors and school employees making the food. Most who are Obama voters. Truth...

Lesh---she was very chubby, FAT, for a kid. I'm sorry that it is true. Like I said, I was a chubby kid as well. Her whole FAT family shows definate signs of not eating veggies and thusly would be considered malnourished by the medical community. This isn't an attack on the kid---just a statement of fact---she had health issues before catching covid. It's obvious that her family was heavy into fried and fast foods and that they all weren't getting vitamins and minerals.

ab
The kid was obese. The other thing is you will never know if she had any other co-morbidities because privacy laws prevent us from knowing about any other conditions.

I remember this story when CNN first broke it, they went from using the term "perfectly healthy" and showing pictures of the kid to removing the term and the picture because they realized that the kid was obese, and they couldn't prove the "perfectly healthy" thing.

trump would be considered pretty much overweight....he is the only president i have never seen jogging, riding a bike, doing something that takes some effort....yea i know golf is real strenuous....
Mr. Harry, the overbearing press put President Trump's susceptibility to nutcase adsassination tbreats like Bernie Sander's former communist pal who tried to murder House whip Scalise on a day the conservative House congressmen were practicing for a baseball game. They found in Hutchinson's shirt pocket a hit list of Congressmen to kill, and Scalise's name was at the top of the ljst. Now Hutchinson the assassin wannabe is dead, but it goes to show that opposing the communists in America is dangerous. President Trump was confined to his office a lot ad it wasn't safe for him to be outdoors without a small army to protect him from communist operatives who get special treatment from people like Sanders and former communist card carrying mama, Nancy Pelosi and her sickening press supporters like the Acosta creep who used his tongue as a character assassination on President Trump because of commie Pelosi radicalized to the point of obstructing the entire 4 years of DonaldTrumps to bring about peacecin the Middle east using his principled know how to ease peace into the radicalized jihadists who are quite mad about murder as a solution. Trump had them working out a future peace the world has not yet seen and never will if we don't pay attention to Ike Eisenhower's anticommunism law passed by Congress in 1954. We must not let the present communists rule over us by destroying the Constitution. I urge our leadership on both sides of the aisle to discourage the present class of Congress from turning us into tyrannical communistas.
