We can't go full-electric due to how our electric grid is dependent on fossil fuels. If everyone was charging their electric vehicles, it would force us to burn a lot more coal. The environment would suffer even more. However, once we adopt a more abundant source of power, like clean and safe nuclear fission or fusion reactors, then it makes perfect sense to electrify transportation and go fully electric. We can't do that now or for the foreseeable future.
