Talk to Paul Ryan? It'll cost you - Reid J. Epstein - POLITICO.com

It will cost $15 to ask Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) a question in person during the August congressional recess.

The House Budget Committee chairman isn’t holding any face-to-face open-to-the-public town hall meetings during the recess, but like several of his colleagues he will speak only for residents willing to open their wallets.

Rep. Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.) is scheduled to appear Aug. 23 at a luncheon gathering of the Arizona Republican Lawyers Association. For $35, attendees can question Quayle and enjoy a catered lunch at the Phoenix office of the Snell & Wilmer law firm.

And Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) took heat in Duluth this weekend for holding private events in his district’s population and media center — including a $10-per-head meeting to be hosted next week by the local chapter of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, which on its invitation notes that the organization “supported Chip in his stunning upset over longtime Congressman Jim Oberstar in the 2010 election.”

All politicians in Congress should be having open to the public town hall meetings. Doesn't matter whether you're a Democrat or Republican, this is wrong.

If your story is telling ALL OF THE FACTS I agree with you. Having said that maybe he is "not campaigning", campaigning and looking for donations like Obama.

$35,800 per couple, but that included a concert as well. For another grand you could have had your pic taken with the pres, the TOTUS.
The $15.00 admission tab will help a little to keep the kooks and the wierdos out of the Congressman's hair, ie the ones in the audience from the faarrr Left that were baiting Mitt Romney last week. The close friends of the boys frolicking in the NYT's all male conga line are gearing up for a nasty fight in 2012. Take off a Liberal's mask and you'll find a pervert: Little Anthony Who Tweets His Wiener, his mentor Chuck Schumer, whom its rumored prefers young men and boys, the former head of the Georgia ACLU who's now doing time for having pictures of the little kiddies engaged in some not so cute and cuddly activities stored on his computers hard drive, ditto for Senator John Kerry's executive assistant who was the Senator's staunchest supporter during the Swift Boat Veterans assault on the Senator during the '04 campaign.

I'm impressed you could fit that many talking points in one post. I mean, it makes absolutely no sense but still pretty impressive.

Once you read the article it becomes clear that Ryan probably doesn't get a nickel of the money. It goes towards the group holding the event, which is a private event.

I particularly like the MoveOn quote below:

"After Republicans voted to gut Medicare and other vital programs while protecting tax breaks for millionaires and corporations, it’s not surprising that they would not want to face their constituents in an open forum,” said MoveOn.org Executive Director Justin Ruben. “There seems to be no limit to how much our government is for sale.”"

The last line, like the title of the article implies that Ryan is somehow benefiting from the fee charged.

All in all a nice little attack piece by politico.
