A strange ruling - apparently this exemption applies only to the particular nuns who brought the suit, not to everyone. As such, I'm not sure why it was granted at all.

Some leftists are trying to claim Obamacare does not impose this requirement on these nuns, since Obama granted and exception to some churches after the law was passed by Congress. But this ruling by the Supremes might be a statement by them that Obama had no authority to grant such an exception, no authority to change an Act of Congress.

Justice Sotomayor grants temporary Obamacare exemption to nuns

The Catholic nuns would have faced 'draconian fines' if they failed to provide contraceptive coverage, as the healthcare law requires.

WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor granted a temporary exemption late Tuesday to a small group of Catholic nuns that shields it from having to comply with a part of President Obama's healthcare law that requires it to provide contraceptive coverage in its insurance plans.
