Sudan Ends 30 Years of Islamic Law by Separating Religion, State

Sudan’s transitional government agreed to separate religion from the state, ending 30 years of Islamic rule in the North African nation.



Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and Abdel-Aziz al-Hilu, a leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North rebel group, signed a declaration in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday adopting the principle.



“For Sudan to become a democratic country where the rights of all citizens are enshrined, the constitution should be based on the principle of ‘separation of religion and state,’ in the absence of which the right to self-determination must be respected,” the document states.

Sudan's government only signed this document in order to start receiving financial aid from western nations.
But the Sudanese people will ignore these new laws and continue to practice Islamic law as they have done for centuries. ...

Oh good---sunny disagrees ----he seems to feel that the vile and disgusting stench of shariah will NOT continue in North Sudan ---GOOD!!!!!! I HOPE that means that the people enslaved (generally christians from south sudan) --will be released from the filth of islamic slavery

It may have something to do with priorities.
Post WWII, no nation wanted to rebuild itself without the financial aid of the US, and providing that aid allows for a massive amount of pilfering on both sides of the ocean.
When most nations are being spoon fed, they have no desire to become independent.
Well...now they're independent and bitching.
