Stimulus program

They have been dropping hints about "son of stimulus" for some time. As the economy continues in its doldrums you will hear more of this. It needs to be killed now.

Krugman has been wanting the gov to spend a lot more for a long time, and despite his 'award' he's still a nut.

If they had spent the last stimulus properly, we would not need a second one. It's time we recognized that the Messiah is not the Messiah, he's just another very naughty, corrupt, self serving fucking asshole.

IMO........ Any type of stimulus or short term gimmick like cash for clunkers are nothing more than very, very short term patches which only serve to hide the real roots of the problems and keeps pushing real solutions off.

Obviously Obana and the Top[ of the HILL gang are totally lost and set on breaking us completely, but, make no mistake, the Republican's have had their hands in creating all of this as well and never offered any solid solutions when they had the chance!

Until some no nonsense solid business solutions are applied and until we begin to revert back to what built this nation, our downward slide will continue, until we are swallowed up by something much larger!

A world structure (restructure) maybe?

We're a nation in decline. Both 'sides' need to accept that fact, and cut the borrowing and spending ACROSS THE BOARD...

...and that means your beloved bloated imperialist military gets the same dose of the medicine, for all of you upon whose foot that shoe fits.

I remember Jimmy Carter saying pretty much the same thing.

Debt started this problem (banks making risky loans). You can't spend your way out of debt.

And our government knew it was going to happen and did nothing - in fact, they proactively encouraged the situation. Question: Why? Answer: Clavard/Pavin Strategy for Economic Recovery.

Well, compare Carter's additions to the national debt to his successors.

You will never get fiscal responsibility until everyone is required to suffer the consequences.
Conservatives claim they want smaller government; how many conservatives DON"T want to increase military spending??

Terrorist! We need a bloated budget to show the rest of the world how cool we are!

Listen carefully............ "Large program needed to solve the problem"
What worked before will work again.
The Real News Network - Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman: Don't Expect A Recovery Soon
Listen carefully....Doing the same thing over and over and over and over again, while expecting a better result.

Actually we engaged in massive deficit spending in the 40's and brought the country leading to economic growth. Problem is won't work anymore because we no longer have a source of vast numbers of labor intensive reasonably good paying industries.

Horseshit.

The only thing that ended the Great Depression was WWII, after which the country went through a rather steep recession.

There still ain't no free lunch, bub.

WHY did WWII end the Great Depression?

Let me help you. Because the US went deeply in debt borrowing money to fund the defense buildup. MASSIVE amounts of money.

And national defense is something the Federal Government is actually charged to do... not to give you bonuses for buying a car or to give you free healthcare or so many other little entitlement things that are in your little stim package

Well, no not really.
First there were contracts from allies overseas. Then there was the draft, which took care of unemployment. After the war we were the only country left with significant industrial capability so sales were pretty easy.
Even so the national debt as a percentage of GDP never rose as high as it had during the war. Until Obama that is.

So massive deficits and accumulation of national debt is fine as long as we spend it on the military?

Are you serious?

The more this takes shape, the more it begins - to me - to look like this is the plan...

Cloward–Piven strategy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The strategy
Cloward and Piven’s article is focused on forcing the Democratic Party, which in 1966 controlled the presidency and both houses of the United States Congress, to take federal action to help the poor. They argued that full enrollment of those eligible for welfare “would produce bureaucratic disruption in welfare agencies and fiscal disruption in local and state governments” that would “deepen existing divisions among elements in the big-city Democratic coalition: the remaining white middle class, the white working-class ethnic groups and the growing minority poor. To avoid a further weakening of that historic coalition, a national Democratic administration would be constrained to advance a federal solution to poverty that would override local welfare failures, local class and racial conflicts and local revenue dilemmas.” They wrote “the ultimate objective of this strategy (is) to wipe out poverty by establishing a guaranteed annual income... (via) the outright redistribution of income.”

To anyone - left, right or independent - I would encourage you to get hold of information regarding Cloward Piven's ideas for collapsing the economy to bring about social change and find out what our government is probably working towards.

If you agree with it, that's fine, just be aware of what it is you agree with.
