Is it me or does it sound more and more like the President is about to abandon every conservative principle he ever held to?

I am tired of this rolling over for socialism.

He abandoned us a long time ago lol.

Yeah, but he looks like he is going to severe whatever ties are left.

It will be nice when we actually get a conservative President and actually get a conservative Congress. it's a shame so many voters didnt bother to show up and set us back.

that would require more than a vote or a election through the c.f.r and tri lateral commission, both party's have been controlled and candidates selected that will advance the agenda of socialism ,bush is a servant of his socialist ,globalist masters

He said the government has an obligation to provide health care to "the elderly and poor". Thats socialism, plain and simple.

Health care has become so ridiculously expensive and what are you really paying for? From what I have seen from my Dad's 3 week hospital stay that killed him because of grosse incompetence, my brother's Mother in Law who he also feels was killed by incompetency of the hospital staff and my mother's last hospital stay that almost killed her and left her with scars and leg pain........medical cost are amazinly high. My sister in law received the bill for killing her mother, 855,000 dollars! I haven't seen the bill for what they did to my parents but I'm sure it is extraordinarily high.

Sure, there are those that actually do a lot of good but I haven't seen much of that personally.

Between the cost of Doctor's and their salaries, insurance companies and their high cost, outragious cost of drugs, and most of all the outright thievery of trial lawyers, this country is in serious trouble and something needs to be done. I'm certainly not advocating socialized health care but there is something seriously wrong with the business of health care and something needs to be done.

Tax reductions for operating vehicles that effectively use less oil and lessen the environmental impact should be inacted to help people make smarter decisions just as tax credits for purchases that make homes work better make sense. Both of these things are more expensive to purchase so the public needs incentives that help justify these purchases.

Thats not Socialism thats humanism.

Government being in charge of people's health and welfare is far from what I would call "humanism". There is no arguement from me that something has to be done about our health care system. Socialists think that the solution is for government to tax the living hell out of the rich and middle class to pay for health care. Some of us however, believe the best way is to free up the private companies that provide health care. Change the conditions that have been driving up the cost of health care. Give citizens more tax relief so they can have the money to shop for whatever health insurance company they want.

Bingo! You hit it right on the head. As for the first three items, doctors get great pay because there has to be an incentive to go through 8 years of school and another 2-10 of residency (why do you think you never see 24 year old doctors). Drugs are so expensive when they're not generic because drug research is hideously expensive and time-consuming. Yes, drugs can be manufactured for about a tenth to a fifth what they cost, but if they sold them for that little, we'd stop seeing new drugs, and with bacterial resistance being what it is, it would condemn to death a large number of people who are allergic to penicillin. Insurance costs are high because everything else is high.

The last reason, however, contributes more than the other two combined. There are too many lawyers lying around, and they get their pay by convincing other people that anything that goes wrong is the doctors' fault. I don't know anything about your case, personally, so I won't comment on that, but many people need to wake up and realize that people get sick and die and there's nothing doctors can do but delay the inevitable. People, however, don't realize this because lawyers convince people that doctors are living gods and that if anything bad happens, it must be the doctor's fault. Their easiest targets are mothers of sick babies, which means that 85% of ALL obstetricians in the U.S. have been sued. In addition to the outrageous premiums on malpractice insurance, these lawsuits also scare doctors into doing horrendously expensive tests, even when they believe they're not necessary, just so they can cover themselves if something goes wrong and the patient sues. As an example, Ceaserian sections have tripled since John Edwards started making 8 figures claiming that not doing one could cause Palsey. Incidence of Palsey, however, is unchanged.

This is also why there's a flu vaccine shortage. Due to the nature of the virus, a flu vaccine cannot contain fully dead virii, so you can catch the flu from a vaccine. Many who do, sue. This has made the vaccine unprofitable, so very few companies still make it. The government even set up a fund to pay people who got the flu from a vaccine so they wouldn't sue, but that didn't appease the lawyers, so the suits continued. Now, due to a reaction to shortages, few people are getting flu shots, and they're going to waste. We might be able to hang onto some of those for later in the flu season, but a mercury-based preservative has effectively been squelched because lawyers, not doctors, decided that it could cause brain damage and sued.

There are also vaccines and cures for lyme disease, morning sickness, and SO many other maladies that companies refuse to manufacture because the cost of defending lawsuits would be greater than the profit from sale of the drug.

And back to insurance, the other reason health care is so expensive is because the government has so heavily regulated health insurance that it must be expensive to turn a profit. The government, not the doctors, are to blame for the high cost of health care. That's why I think that a lack of, rather than increase in, government intervention is the best way to drive it back down.

Bush Speech Terror Claim Debunked A Year Ago
Just one of many State of the Union lies, following in the tradition of the 2003 yellowcake fraud, Bush commits an impeachable offense by knowingly lying to the American people

A claim made by President Bush in his State of the Union speech last night, that an attack on an L.A. skyscraper had been averted, was universally debunked as a hoax by Mayors, CIA, FBI and NSA personnel and counter-terror experts nearly a year ago when it first surfaced. By regurgitating this fraud, Bush has committed an impeachable offense by knowingly lying to the American people.

Bush's address was punctuated with deception, horse hockey and propagandistic drivel throughout, again reinforcing a characteristic that was born in 2003 when Bush told the nation that Iraq had sought to buy uranium from Niger , a claim the CIA had informed the administration was based on falsified documents ten months before it was included in the speech.

Amidst the cacophony of bullshit came this belter.

"We stopped an al Qaeda plot to fly a hijacked airplane into the tallest building on the West Coast."

According to numerous public officials, terror experts and intelligence personnel, this is simply not true.

Bush's is referring to an announcement made on February 9th last year in which he made the claim that an Al-Qaeda plan to fly a plane into the LA Library Tower was thwarted in 2002. The release of the news that the plot had been prevented by means of tapping terrorist suspect's phones was politically timed to coincide with the start of legal hearings on the Bush administration's domestic eavesdropping program.

Fox "News," the White House's PR mouthpiece, immediately began showing footage from the movie Independence Day, in which the famous tower is destroyed.

Hours after the announcement, the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, went public with comments of his absolute bewilderment concerning the alleged plot.

"I'm amazed that the president would make this (announcement) on national TV and not inform us of these details through the appropriate channels," the mayor said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I don't expect a call from the president — but somebody."

The day after the announcement, twenty three separate intelligence experts, all with either CIA, FBI, NSA or military credentials, both in and out of service, angrily disputed Bush's remarks about the alleged L.A. plot, with one going as far as saying that the President was "full of shit."

Another described the claims as “worthless intel that was discarded long ago

I, too, thought this was one of his better "State of the Union" speeches. It did what a "State of the Union" speech is supposed to do--it told us what was going well and pointed us to problems that need to be addressed. I particularly liked the way he presented and addressed the issue of Iraq, which, to me, was the highlight of his speech.
