Of course. But they don't eat them so much that we call them "beaners."

Actually India rates #1 in the consumption of beans, followed by Brazil, then Mexico.

But we don't call Indians "beaners" because India doesn't reside on our border. If there any other reason we call them "beaners", I'm not aware of it. Maybe you could ask your class when school starts back up. I'm sure some of the responses would be hilarious, as well as your meeting with the school Superintendent.
