Things are heating up in the Pacific.

BTW Guadalcanal is in the Solomons.

Leaked documents purport to show plans for a security deal between China and the Pacific nation, which lies about 2,000km (1,200 miles) from Australia.
The ABC and Reuters report they have verified the draft document as genuine.
Australia has long been concerned over Beijing's growing influence in the Pacific, its nearest neighbours.
Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd called the apparent plans "one of the most significant security developments we have seen in decades" and "adverse to Australia's national security interests".
...
"We would be concerned, clearly, about any military base being established and we would express that to the Solomon Islands government," he told the local Nine Network.
The leaked papers set out a framework which could allow Beijing to deploy forces to "protect the safety of Chinese personnel and major projects in Solomon Islands".
The tiny Pacific nation could also "request China to send police, armed police, military personnel and other law enforcement and armed forces", according to the document.
There is also provision for China to "make ship visits, to carry out logistical replenishment in, and have stopover and transition in Solomon Islands".
...

But many rightwingers have suddenly turned into hippie isolationists who don't want to interfere in the activities of gangster regimes anywhere in the world, so we're not supposed to be upset about stuff like this just take some more Prozac, drink another beer, and pretend the outside world doesn't matter.

China is, and for a decade has been making all the same moves in the western Pacific that Japan was making in the 20's and 30's. Anyone who can't see their endgame is blind.

The question is short of sanctioning both what could be done about this deal with The Solomons?

Obviously they have short memories.

When a country allows filthy savages to invade for "humanitarian," "refugee " and other bullshit lies, they have no right to be a tough guy in international waters.

Dude send your kids and grandkids over there go ahead be my guest no one will stop you....

My kids already served, and my grandkids aren't old enough yet, but they've already decided their branches of service and their choices of MOS's, so in the meantime it would be better just to draft you and the other hippies and use you for fodder.

It is an odd similarity with Japan and China both choosing the same geographic spot. But imo the biggest danger of China in Asia is that it wants to replace the US as the guarantor of free shipping lanes, and even charging for the service. We get being the reserve currency in exchange for funding our mililtary with deficit spending. But this was not a role the US sought out. Rather, our Navy was a "counter weight" to protect any for power from curtailing trade, and Japan and then Spain ... and even the Brits and Germans ... were seen as potential threats.

But I don't think China views direct military confrontation as the means. They want to dominate markets first, after which its geopolitical role just naturally grows. Japan was on a path to expanding its land mass before the US embargoed its access to oil, and that directly led to Japan attacking Pearl Harbor and the British.

At the end of the day it boils down to fighting small wars 'over there' or shoving our heads up our asses and end up fighting a large one on our own soil or being starved to death and commit suicide as a nation. We learned how to avoid that from having to fight WW I : Part Two, but obviously have become dumbed down and doped up and intent on repeating another WW and from a far weaker manufacturing base. Our affluence has killed off any sense of reality, and we're losing that affluence and social mobility as well as a result.

I thought sovereign countries could join into whatever alliances or ventures they wanted. Is that off the table now?

Keep an eye on New Guinea.
A prominent defence analyst has warned China is likely to push for a future military presence in Papua New Guinea as it works to finalise a controversial security pact with nearby Solomon Islands.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-24/draft-leak-chinese-military-base-solomon-islands/100937632
In 2020, concerns were raised in Australia when Papua New Guinea signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese company to build a $200 million "comprehensive multi-functional fishery industrial park" on Daru Island.

Former Army intelligence officer and University of New South Wales Professor, Clinton Fernandes, says China is making strong headway in Papua New Guinea just like it has in Solomon Islands.

"The next item on the agenda is the Daru Island area off Papua New Guinea which is going to have a Chinese presence and before too long a pro-China party will win the national elections in Papua New Guinea," he said.

The Biden Effect: Traditional US Partner Solomon Islands Signs Draft Security Agreement with China – May Open Door for Chinese Police to Patrol Islands

1 Apr 2022 ~~ By Jim Hoft

The Solomon Islands are located east of Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean.
Here is a brief history of the Solomon Islands and US relations following World War II up to Joe Biden.
During World War II, the United States, fighting in tandem with Solomon Islanders, Australians and other allies, and Japan contested the Solomon Islands, then a British protectorate. By the end of 1943, the Allies were in command of the entire Solomon chain. In recognition of the close ties forged between the United States and the people of Solomon Islands during World War II, the U.S. Congress financed the construction of the Solomon Islands Parliament building. The United States participates in annual commemorations of the Battle of Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands, the turning-point for Allied forces in the Pacific theater of World War II.
This week China and the Solomon Islands signed a draft agreement of a security pact that could allow Chinese police and other forces to take up duties on the islands.
This is a stunning development from a traditional partner of New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
WHEC reported:
China and the Solomon Islands have signed a draft version of a security pact that could see Chinese police and other forces take up duties in the Pacific Island nation, drawing concerns from traditional partners New Zealand, Australia and the United States.

Commentary:
It's plainly obvious that Joseph Biden will do absolutely nothing of any significance that will pose any kind of threat to China. He's been paid too well by Xi Jinping and other Chinese oligarchs.
It's just a matter of time when Joe signs a Draft Security deal with China so they can begin patrolling our city streets.

It's coming along with Americas DESTRUCTION !

This is the results, when you have an Alzheimer's Ridden fool in the White House.
A concubine as vice idiot.
Stolen elections have consequences.

Sen Romney asked Sec Blinken about the Solomon/China relationship. Blinken said they want to open a US embassy in the Islands soon. i might post the video later

China needs a wider range of area to patrol its growing Navy and military power. For a long time it has been corralled to go through a thinner opening from all the islands not aligned near its coast to get out to the main ocean. So now we have tp spend a bit more attention nearer New Zealand and Australia. We must have known something was happening because Australia cancelled an order for conventional submarines from France and signed a deal for nuclear subs from the United States at least several months ago.
