Those are TINY installations. And the battery back-up is most of the cost. CANT be used in mission critical applications. But for remote temporary sites it's fine..
When my brother was stationed in Bahrain, the French sent solar-powered air-conditioners for their tents...he was a Marine Fa18 mechanic- he said it was so hot they slept in the daytime and worked at night whenever possible. This was 1990 -91.
 
What does the military do on a cloudy day?
At home they kick on the generators.
On the road it varies.

Hey, it's a real thing. Apparently the Army has more solar power generation than is found in several states. Fort Carson is home to the Army's largest single 2MW array that covers 12 acre, producing 3,200 MWh annually. Still could not find an MOS that deals with it. I guess they farm out their solar farm work.
