Solar is the best overall energy source by far.

Better energy source than doughnuts ... that's insanity talking, you must be nuts ... ha ha ha ha ...

What are we to do with all this energy in the desert? ... wouldn't it be better to put solar panels near, or on, our homes and businesses? ... not sure we can put up terrorist-proof transmission lines through a thousand miles of ISIS controlled territory ... better to put small nuclear reactors in every neighborhood of Gaza City I would think ...

No. No. You're supposed to say;
"But won't they get buried every time there's a sand storm ?"

Nope, but you already know nuclear power is by far, our best source of energy.
Save the nukes for space travel.

By far nuclear power is the most reliable, efficient, and cleanest form of energy we have today. China has more being built and in planning than the rest of the world combined.

China has 4 times more people than we do, and half their country isn't suitable for solar power.

As for nuclear being clean, you're lying. Shut up.

Good to see the anti nuclear brigade cheering the harnessing of solar power, you know, from that enormous nuclear reactor in space that we orbit.
They also always forget to mention that even at the current pace, we'll run out of uranium in about 200 years.

How cost-effective will it be for future generations to have to
maintain these dead reactors to prevent meltdowns ?

Here's an article on uranium reserves -

So we're fine for 200 years!

According to you, we should not use anything that we might run out of in 200 years!

Got it!

Like no one saw this coming...

Electric vehicles were an idea, but a poor idea. It's like inventing the steam powered car, that's the similarity to where they fit in. Some technology desperately needs invented to supercede electric before every vehicle manufacturing idiots goes down the electric route.

I'm not saying fossil fueled vehicles need to stay, I'm saying electric is not the answer. The only thing that can save the pro electric clan is a vast technological advancement of the battery. Ain't gonna happen this century.

The problem with solar power is that it doesn't help at all at night or on cloudy days. I guess its cool if you like quiet, dark nights where you can study the heavens and constellations. But it definitely will change life in our current days.

WOW, let's do it! One point two percent is such a tiny amount, why no do it today?

OH, wait, the Sahara desert is 3.6 MILLION MILES! That is 3, Not acres, but SQUARE MILES! ONE square mile is equal to 640 acres. That is 3,600,000 SQUARE MILES. That time 1.2% equals, 0.12000 X 3,600,000 = 43,200 SQUARE MILES of solar panels.

Are you serious?

The REAL solution, today, is nuclear power.

You've got a point.
Guess I owe you an apology then.

Thank you. Here too are the number of nuclear plants scheduled to be built. Notice NONE in the United States.

China is no fool. They learned from us that one of the secrets to a booming economy is cheap, plentiful energy. As you can see, they are making huge strides toward that end while the Harris/Biden administration is working hard to make our energy both expensive and in short supply.

China has a short-term strategy that's part of a larger long-term strategy.
