if you are a country under the protective dome of the US military, then you have all kinds of dough to play with,
so the argument that socialism is great for America is bullshit. protection costs money.

we can look at policy for engagement/our involvement for the rest of the world, that's a different topic.

the world's socialists countries with free healthcare etc, need a superpower to stay safely afloat, that's my argument.

Top 10 Most Socialist Countries in the World - Peerform Blog

The term socialist has been thrown around quite a bit in the past few years. Not since the cold war has the term garnered so much attention in the press and from politicians. But when you look at countries who actually have a socialist economic structure, you can see some similarities to the United States – but there are some really stark differences.

Below, you will see some of the most socialistic nations in the world today:

  • China
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Netherlands
  • Canada
  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • Belgium
Despite popular myths, there is very little connection between economic performance and welfare expenditure. Many of the countries on this list are proof of that, such as Denmark and Finland. Even though both countries are more socialistic than America, the workforce remains stronger.

keep in mind also that there are so many different kinds types and definitions of socialism, none of which are appropriate for America.

I have been saying that for years, liberals go off the wall in threads like this.

I still say they should pay us to protect their oil from the ME and from pirates.

....and BILLIONS of U.S. dollars in 'Foreign Aid' coming in....

i have friends in the UK who have been complaining about that for decades. sort of a projected forced "display of freedom" that may lead to sharia in some cases.

You left out the part where maybe the best idea is for the US to stop protecting all those nations.

maybe it is, if we going to be socialist, good point.

I have been saying that for years

Yep. Me, too:

Some of our overseas commitments are to protect American interests. But a lot of our overseas commitments are a subsidy of other countries' defense.

One of the reasons Yurp is able to afford single payer healthcare for their citizens is because we are picking up their national defense tab. And they have the nerve to look down their noses at us!

Socialist or not we could balance our budget and pay down our debt.
