So you want to be vaccinated...what color are you.

Unfortunately, some of these very same people, the worst in our already unimpressive professional class, are now in charge of the coronavirus vaccine, and that should make you nervous. Currently, officials at the CDC are debating how to distribute the vaccine and who gets it first. That decision will, to some extent, determine who lives and who dies. It's a big decision and it shouldn't be complicated.

According to the CDC panel, another group, those officially classified as "non-healthcare essential workers", should get the vaccine first. Why is that? Because "racial and ethnic minority groups [are] disproportionately represented in many essential industries."

In other words, it's entirely racial. They're making the decision based on race. Kathleen Dooling's presentation concluded that doling out life-saving medicine on the basis of skin color would "mitigate health inequities." Of course it would kill people, and she effectively concedes that. But the people it would kill come from a disfavored race, so it's not a big deal.

They would get the vaccine as they cross the border.

Do you get your news from Tucker Carlson? :auiqs.jpg:

I consider many low-paid jobs to be essential, like the guys who stock the grocery shelves. I need an uninterrupted supply of TP. If it happens that a high proportion of these workers are minorities, they are still essential and it has nothing to do with race.

He's the one who wrote me the prescription. I just need people in the supply chain to fill it.

Democrats are obsessed with hating white people.

Democrats are the racist they claim to hate.
You are the only one obsessed around here, obsessed with lying..The Dems are not in control of the CDC or the NIH your boy Trump is
Lying Democrat scum...

It is Democrats who are saying this BS. It is Democrats saying old people are to white to get the vaccine for example. It is Democrats who require whites to get the vaccine but allow other colors to opt out.

You are nothing but lying scum.

NOT SURE THAT’S CONSTITUTIONAL: The VA has said that it plans to prioritize racial minority members over whites in the distribution of the COVID vaccine. Hold Up Folks. Little Thing Known As The CONSTITUTION.

Recent announcement by the Department of Veterans Affairs.[Link]

On December 10, the Department announced its initial plans for the distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine.[Link] The Department indicated that it would prioritize Black, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian veterans in this distribution because these "communities have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19."[Link]

Yes, COVID-19 is particularly dangerous to people who fall within certain categories, including the aged and those with existing health problems. It is both reasonable and prudent for the Department to prioritize many of our most susceptible fellow citizens, but, the decision to distribute the vaccine based on race creates a constitutional equal protection problem.

Under the Constitution, a court would be obliged to apply "strict scrutiny" to any law or policy that treats individuals differently based on race, no matter how well meaning.[Link] That requires proponents of the law or policy to show that it fulfills a "compelling purpose" and that it is "narrowly tailored" to achieve that purpose.

"Strict scrutiny," as the name implies, is intended to be a very tough standard. If, for example, differing rates of susceptibility to COVID-19 among racial groups can be largely accounted for through such things as differing rates of diabetes, coronary disease, or obesity, there is a substantial likelihood that the VA's plan to prioritize some races over others would fail legal challenge. Similarly, if factors like age, diabetic status, or geographic areas at which outbreaks are most serious are more significant than race and yet are not given full priority over race, that, too, fails legal challenge.

Maybe they should ask Dr. Jill?
