Probably because ESPN LOVES the NFL, it's their bread and butter, so to speak. I probably WILL watch some of it, at least the early rounds. There will be no other sports related programs on then.

You are thick aren't you McFly? The draft is a primarily electronic process anyway. Drafting of individuals does not require large crowds. The league has all of the data (combines, films, interviews etc.) they require to select their draftees. The formal draft process can be conducted electronically and via teleconference.

I'm not just talking about the draft. I am talking about the NFL as an institution, and the importance of that institution to stay functioning as high a capacity as possible. It (along with basketball) serves a much greater purpose than just entertainment. They represent black males off of the streets, committing violent crimes. Additionally, consider the number 'hangers on' that surround, and effectively leach a living off of these sports figures. These could represent thousands of crimes prevented each year.
Sport serves are very important purpose in our society.
