That's an easy one. Anyone's political position can change over time, and in this case, a few very obvious events happened between when Biden said the first quote in 2017, and today: Trump appointed one Justice in a seat that had been stalled for a year, then another, then fast-tracked a third after voting had already started. Then, in contrast to what they each promised during their confirmations, they canned Roe v. Wade. It's not outrageous to think that many people consider that to be a change from "legitimized" to "destabilized."

I mean, from a right-wing perspective, what would you think if Biden had delayed RBG's seat to put in Merrick Garland, then seated Justice Jackson, then squeezed in one more in October of 2024, then during a GOP President's term in 2025, they overruled Heller v. DC? I would imagine that "delegitimized" would the tamest of the language you would use if that were the case.

But certain ethnic groups (let us conventionally call them "autochthons") must take care that they are not outnumbered by representatives of other groups, thereby upsetting the traditional balance.
