So Joe... what is the "fair share"???

We see that the problem isn't necessarily "high earners" and really are the super rich going to be the ones getting paid under the table or making some extra money selling shit on E bay ?

This is why i think a consumption tax is the best choice. Everyone takes home 100% of their income, the government doesn't have to know what's in your bank account and and people who don't pay income taxes now will pay the consumption tax
But the Biden plans are to RAISE consumption taxes...where?
That program — a “National motor vehicle per-mile user fee pilot” — is included in the infrastructure package still before Congress. The idea, he said, is that volunteers with passenger and commercial vehicles across the country would participate in the program that would provide insights into how such a per-mile fee could be collected. Such a tax has been weighed as a potential replacement for the gas tax, he said.
The infrastructure bill includes $125 million to fund pilot programs to test a national vehicle miles traveled fee.
  • National pilot program: This includes $10 million each year from 2022 to 2026 for a national vehicles miles traveled fee pilot program.
  • State and local pilot program: This includes $75 million provided from the federal government to regional, state and local transportation agencies. The breakdown is $15 million provided each year from 2022 to 2026.
In addition... Biden proposes....

IRS would track all bank transactions over $600 under Biden plan; Businesses revolt

Two plans to have the equivalent of "consumer tax"... on everyone!

Biden wants to keep the income tax.

The income tax is the worst way to generate revenue.

We need to ditch the income tax altogether

Here's where that's impossible. Washington will NEVER replace one tax system with another. Yes, they will gladly add a consumption tax in addition to the income tax, but it will not replace the income tax. Also, Washington will NEVER step back from the surveillance they can do now by knowing the level and sources of your income. The IRS is just too potent a weapon for them to give up.

Eisenhower was a popular and very good President. He was also a Republican. So let us return to the tax structure of his terms. After all, we built the Interstate Highway System and many other major infrastructure projects in those years.
Ike the RINO "progressive" was thus responsible for every urban highway that destroyed neighborhoods and divided cities. Not real smart there.

That is my thought exactly. 70% is absolutely nuts.

Add regulations like California has and you'll see them leaving tomorrow. What will be left?

Take a look at France, all their top taxpayers moved to Switzerland some years ago because their taxes were even higher than this.

/——-/ We had roads, public schools, rail, universities, hospitals, bridges, and military before 1913 and the income tax amendment.

The interstate highway system was created to solve a problem the government realized existed in ww2. Not being able to efficiently move military supplies from place to place easily. You didn't think they did it for us did you? It's even called The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways,

Every citizen should pay the same tax rate starting with the first dollar earned regardless of income

There is no such tax plan where lower income taxpayers don’t end up paying more and wealthy taxpayers paying less

Who told you that?

of course the rich pay more taxes than the poor
Your tax plan will end up having the rich pay less than they do now and the poor paying more than they do now

Typical Conservative tax the poor strategy

Simple flat tax with a personal deduction set at the poverty level. That leaves the poverty level as the lever politicians have to buy votes, not the rates.

OK
So in this plan, who will end up paying more and who will pay less?

I bet you still end up shifting more tax burden from the rich to the low middle class

Actually, the Trump tax cuts resulted in the top income earners paying MORE and the middle and lower income earners paying LESS than they did prior to those tax cuts taking effect.

That's what our current tax system is already designed to do.

Politicians know hat that middle class is where the income is so that's why the tax codes are written the way they are
