I am a simple guy, I have a $200 motorola and does what I need, I call and text and maybe look something up away from the house.
If I want to watch youtube I have my own custom built computer by me and a 32 inch ISP

then you have the iphone crowd who view it as more of a status symbol, like it's the mercedes of phones

do you really need a $1400 phone? it's the phone of choice in movies for the rich and famous, bah any android phone is not good enough

thoughts?

I have a $2000 android. They aren't all cheaper than Iphones.

I stay with the Iphone, as my kids have always used iphone, so airdrop is cool, they can track my location darn near anywhere going solo in back country, even if I cannot receive facetime or even voice. I can track my brother, who actually does get lost. Back when I worked, I could find it back in the racks. If I want it to do something cool or better, one of my kid used to be a Verizon sales/support guy, and knows all the answers and tricks. Pricey? Yes, but worth it, to me.

in your situation it's not a status type thing, you got accustomed to the layout, the OS and it works for you, this is equal to those who learned PC in school and used a mac, they are likely to later on become mac fans as it's familiar

Yup, Whole family has them.
Great advancement in Tech.
Love it.

The younger generation don't have computers any more, people have phones with graphics cards and their eyes will be gone by the time they're 40

Why the CRAZY generalizations?

Why the CRAZY generalizations?

Because it's a simple off the cuff comment, I don't need to source it, I don't need to explain it down the minutest detail.

Have you seen the level of detail most of this forum doesn't go into on a daily basis?

frigidweirdo well smart phones have a GPU chip, not exactly a card but many also have tablets too or laptops

My fist PC could use pc dos or msdos, had 2 5.25 floppy drives 128k of ram, an RGB monitor, dot matrix printer using fanfold paper, and a 1200 baud modem. The company that sold the box was sued out of existence, because when the chip was blown up, etched into it was copywrite microsoft. I have stayed with PC ever since, as I know it best, and every company I worked for used it, as well as the military. Phones are our only apple devices. The kids know Iphone best, but I can run rings around them if their pc laptop fcks up.

I let several years go by without upgrading my phone. Since I gave up my Blackberry way back when, I upgraded to an Android (I forget which model) and only this year upgraded again, this time to the S24 Ultra.

I don't know why people feel the need to upgrade more often.

Like you, I use it for texting and phone calls. I don't belong to any social media sites as they literally make people dumber.

I also use my banking and investment apps on it,

Over the years, I have played a handful of games on it. My all time favorites are the Monument Valley series. Best games ever.

I remember Commodore. I was taking computer courses. The college used PC's, to that was direction I went.

Too many kids have smart phones.

I don't own one and I don't carry a smart phone. Does that make me a neanderthal?
