Six companies taking advantage of prisoners

Prisoners aren't guests. They not only should work but we should bring back the chain gang and put them to work in the fields instead of illegals.
Where did the idea that prisoners shouldn't work come from?
It came from the idea that forced labor is unconstitutional as well as barbaric.
Haven't even read the 13th amendment, have we?

....involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States....

Constitutional ignorance seems to be part of the very fiber of liberals.

BTW, the crimes they committed were "barbaric". Duly punishing them as provided by law, puts them on the road back to civilization.

Is this ethical? How long will this be allowed to continue?

There is a huge link between Criminals and Lack of Education. Who/what party cuts education funding again lol?
Prisons in America usually just create better criminals, they get educated in prison, but what they learn is mostly how to fight and survive - rather than how to become productive members of society.

That's why the prisons keep filling up, and there is no change over, as the criminals are back again in a few months.

This is the first smart thing you have ever stated. Not that the topic is a surprise to me.

You hate Government yet you seem to know the inside structure of prison.

There should be a video game about a joint United Nations NATO Task Force taking down a corrupt prison CEO!
Judge Dredd is a movie about a good cop taking down corrupt cops, and putting down the scum of society. Then there is always Robocop, again about a good cop, but he takes down an evil CEO.

Crazy. Spiderman took down an evil CEO too. Come to think of it, The Lorax published in 1971 took down an evil CEO too. It's almost like this issue has been brought up before :p
It has, in several books in Victorian times as well.

Not sure if this is funny or sad. He doesn't understand it in any way shape or form.

Hate is a rather strong word. I don't 'hate' any institution. I just see government as another institutional framework, which makes people conform or suffer the consequences.

Government exists on the myth of 'implied consent', meaning the notion that being born into a state means you consent to its rules, even though you never were asked whether you consent to the state contract.

So instead of teaching prisoners how to work, you want to provide them with free room and board, skill development classes, and rehab for free with no effort on their part?

How exactly do you think requiring them to work like the rest of us is a bad thing when they are living off our dime?

Teaching someone to work is vital in changing their lives for the better.

People who are incarcerated are incarcerated because they committed an act that was unconstitutional and/or barbaric.
The idea that they should not work for their keep is total opposite of decency, justice, common sense and economics.

Private Corporations Profiting from Prison Labor? Surely you're talking about China.

This is America! Our flag is Red, White and Blue!

(Cue the Patriotic Fighter Jet Flyover)

Prison is supposed to be punishment. There's nothing barbaric about having prisoners work.

There's nothing barbaric about having prisoners work.

in fact it is the only form of slavery allowed in the constitution

So having prisoners work to develop work ethics, skill development, and provide for themselves: bad

forcing people to work for another persons health care: good.

in fact it's huge injustice for them not to work for someone else health care

WTF? Is this part of the hate-America left wing war on Police? American convicts are treated so well that the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of convicts to petition the government and federal court system is clogged with frivolous law suits from jail house lawyers. Municipalities contract with (the dreaded) corporations to supply prisons with the best food and comfort that taxpayer money can supply. Go to jail in Mexico or Europe or the freaking Mid-East and see how long you would last in their prisons. Ignorant low information hypocritical lefties brag about the DOW going up during the Obama administration and then they whine about "corporate wealth".
