A few weeks ago, the President expressed the HOPE that "we" could start rolling back the restrictions by Easter." Yesterday, he announced that they would remain in place at least until the end of April (long past Easter).

Watch how the various news sources play this.

It is not a "reversal." It is not a "change in policy." It is what it is. The President expressed a hope (wanting/needing to show some optimism), and the hope proved too optimistic. As most knew at the time.

Again, watch how this is being reported.

Too many of the cult of dementia were unable to comprehend the whole hope for. Their little bit of minds went immediately to he wants.
They are unable to comprehend that a president must also give people hope and reassurance during a time of crisis. Imagine if Churchill had told the U.K. we are finished we can not hold out?
Many are worried about their health but they are also worried they may not have a job, a house or even higher debt when this is over. So attempting to be optimistic is not a bad thing. I have little doubt that there were many times Churchill really was wondering if the U.K. would fall.

Coronavirus is way more contagious than the flu.

The swine flu pandemic infected 60 million, and killed 12,000. Thanks to determined and swift action, the death toll was kept way below the average flue season's.

There is no reason to believe that, without serious and persistent mitigation efforts, the coronavirus would infect fewer people than the swine flu.

Also bear in mind, for these mitigation efforts to succeed, the population needs to trust the administration knows what they are doing, and that self-contradictory messaging "social distancing!" - "there are are going to miracles!" - "all's over by Easter, would be beautiful" - "100,000 to 200,000 deaths, if we are lucky" are sure to undermine that trust, and add to the confusion.

Anyway, if the mitigation efforts do not succeed, the infection will easily surpass the number of swine flu infections. At a (low) 1% death rate, that would mean 600,000+ deaths. It would also mean, clinics having to work far above capacity, protective gear and ventilators running out country-wide, healthcare workers dying like flies, and the death rate soaring. Anything, any messaging undermining the public's trust, leaving them disoriented, not taking it all seriously, contributes to the death toll.

Yeah, but the media is at fault.

Goof.

.
Trump's idea for opening churches and businesses by Easter was a terrifying idea from an ill-informed, uneducated self-absorbed madman. The media did its job by showing how dangerous and out of control Trump has become.

Dude....STFU. The more you try to scare people the more it becomes a possibility that you might become a statistic.
