Should the US defend Taiwan from China?

In my opinion, now is the best time for a referendum on the type of Government they want over there.

We ejected them. How is that a loss?

We ejected the N.Koreans from the South thus we defeated the N. Koreans.

China evicted us from N. Korea thus they defeated us.

China gained much prestige and power as a result of the Korean war.

We gained nothing....in fact we lost much prestige by failing to run the Chinese out of N. Korea.

Though if Truman had turn Mac loose things would have ended much better.

Truman was too timid and drank too much whiskey not even to mention he got a lot of bad advice....not to forget....the communists had thoroughly infiltrated Washington as Sen. Joe McCarthy demonstrated.

In a nutshell Truman was getting advice from dedicated Communists.

Not only that, the PLA pushed the US and its allies all the way from the Chinese border to Seoul with little more than massed light infantry and clever strategies against a modern military with access to heavy artillery, tanks, and massed bombers. Just a decade before, Chinese soldiers spent eight years ineffectually dying against a much less technologically advanced enemy in Imperial Japan before it surrendered to the Americans and Soviets. Before that China was pretty much slapped around by any foreign power every couple years. The boost to the national psyche must have been massive.

Once China sees the Biden USA weakness, they will explode in further grabs of power.​

So yes we have to defend Taiwan to protect our own interests, but China knows that Biden won't because he already sold out to them years ago, just has much of our federal government.​

If the Republicans do not sweep the mid-term elections the probability is very high they will do exactly that....beginning with the packing of the Supreme Ct.

They already have Academia, the MSM, and the military under their control....all they need is to control the Supreme Ct. and they can begin their great revolution...institute socialism and turn America into a 3rd world nation saying like Jimmy Carter said....it is the right thing to do....when he gave away the Panama Canal.

The democrats seek moral superiority just like Jimmy Carter did....and to them that means destroying the American Dream ....making America equal to all the shitholes in the world. aka globalism.

I do not think China is merely saber rattling....I think they have a plan.....they have thought about all this long and hard.....and they are very clever....much, much smarter than the Western World who they have played now for decades.

Ever since the days of Mao they have let it be known that they will one day take over Taiwan.

Yet...I do think they want to do it in a peaceful manner...and Joe Biden is a great opportunity for them to do that.

What they are doing with the over-flights is to ratchet up the pressure in a gradual manner....to convince the U.S. they are serious and if we interfere there will be severe repercussions.

They are going to increase the pressure until there is some sort of limited military action which will provoke a big pow wow between the U.S. and China; at which time they will make it very,very clear to joe what they will do if they cannot get an agreement similar to the Hong Kong agreement with the U.K.

And we all know what joe will do.

Yeah, he'll fold. This is the norm for all U.S./Oriental relations, and I don't mean just China: remember when North Korea shelled that island, killed a lot of people, and did several other atrocities in the demilitarized zone -------------- did anyone hear anything from us??

Crickets. If we had WANTED to have a war, that was definitely a good excuse: we normally go to war over boat attacks if we actually want one. (Remember the Maine, and also the Tongkin Gulf incident).

Well, I agree; and I'd say within the next six months. They need to move fast so their opportunity doesn't evaporate.
