In case you are too young to remember, PATCO had a “no strike” clause in their contract. Plus they were warned that if they struck they would be fired. PATCO’s members got what they had coming.

That's your opinion. Every other 1st world country disagrees. In fact 120 countries provide paid maternity leave. But I'm sure you are right and everyone else in the world is wrong.

Maternity leave is one thing, paternity leave is another. Mothers often need time to recover and adapt. At that age fathers are secondary care givers

Unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed could work as well and be easier on the employer.
