Should DC become a state and get 2 Senators and voting rights for residents?

We know they created DC outside of any state so that it wouldn't be influenced. We know this.
We know that DC was not heavily populated.
We know that one of the main tenants of our founding was the inequality of taxation without representation.
We know that the founders didn't see the district at 700k people.
We know that the boundaries of the district were not limited in the Constitution other than it must be less than 10 square miles
We know the founders gave us the tools to make changes in government as we see fit to create a more perfect union.

I say the founders left it in our hands.
Cut the crap.

You can cut the crap, RW. Be honest, it's the two Senators

As an American, I am offended by citizens paying the highest federal taxes while not being able to vote on how that money is used. Taxation without representation.

Like I said, there is nothing saying Republicans can’t run a winning candidate for Senator In DC. I have seen Republican Senators in NY, Massachusetts, California….all Blue States
I also saw a Democrat win in Alabama and Georgia

If the TRUE issue is VOTING RIGHTS, then give DC back to Maryland.

Maryland doesn't want DC and you can't force them. If Maryland wanted DC and the other way around then sure, but that's not the case.

Virginia already got their part back...just give DC back to Maryland....both are deep blue areas.

So?

Simple AF.

Making DC a state is ONLY about increasing Dems in Congress....not about disenfranchised voters.

I 100% support giving DC back to Maryland...it should be that way.

It's about representation.

No, and everyone who does not work for the federal government should be removed from DC. The nation's capital should not be a crime ridden liberal shithole.

It is actually a wealthy city. Much more wealth than Mississippi, W Virginia or Wyoming and they get to vote
And, no, not everyone works for the federal government

Its about socialism pushed by a sell out political class to the elites and globalists. When empowered they have a reputation to not take any shit. And in the end they will reduce resources to those they made promises to as the nation continues its decline. We are now condemning parents who complain to Progressive Socialist Globalist school boards that they can not defend their raped children in schools as they will be domestic terrorists. There was a time that a father would take a rifle into one of these places and clean it out. We all are diminished because of the insanity you promote. And in the end you will get it the worst. Not as a threat, but out of necessity.

All of that yearly government money sent to the city or spent to keep many parts of the city looking better. Unfortunately, the local city government is of the Village. Even they could not completely screw it up. But they try...oh they try.

What do you mean too bad? You a conservative wanted the federal government to force Maryland to take in DC?

They can't. Too bad.

DC agreed they would NOT become a "State" -- beyond absurd to give the Federal Government Statehood as well

The question is….how much money does DC send to the Federal Government?

And they don’t get a say on how it is spent including other national issues

If they don't like it, they can move right next door. No one forces them to live there. Your indignation is 100% phony

Again, no valid argument from you. Not a single one in this entire thread (or elsewhere for that matter)
Here's valid argument: You're full of shit. The whole reason for this thread is the fact that douchebags like you want two more Dim senators.

DC doesn't any money to the federal government that it didn't recieve from the federal government.

Who cares if Maryland wants DC or not? I don't know, Maryland. Next

Of course it's representation. Next

Those states don't want DC residents, especially virtual ones who don't give two shits about a state they don't even live in. Why do you not get this? Maryland does not want to take either the residents of DC virtually (still, so damn stupid) or not.

Really? You don't think 700k people who reside directly next to your state however are not apart of it really have that states best interests? Also, do you think residents of a state are going to give two shits about an area they are not financially tied to? It's so dumb.

Maryland is not interested in joining up with DC and DC feels the same about Maryland.
If they want to vote, that's what they can do. Here's a thought, what if the rest of the country doesn't WANT to create a new state out of a few square miles of real estate? Would the new state have the best interests of the rest of the country at heart? Not bloody likely. The District was never supposed to be a state and shouldn't be. If people want to live in the city and still vote, they can move or petition a state to let them be a virtual resident and pay state taxes so they can vote. Has anyone explained to the residents of DC that want to be a state that they would have to start paying state taxes? It's not very likely that a brand new state that is essentially only part of a city is not going to pass up the chance to force new taxes on the people. Then, the SALT wouldn't be deductible, so they would have to pay those taxes plus the federal. I have a feeling a lot of people haven't really thought this through.
