Serious Times for USA, Serious Election

America faces some vitally important issues in today’s world. I’m sorry, but I just don’t get the GOP. All you have to offer is a funny picture of Kerry in a NASA suit. “Vote for Bush because we have a funny picture of Kerry!” If the best the GOP can do is run cheesy negative ads against Kerry and use the old “He’s too Liberal” BS that you’ve used for the last 12 years, that ain’t gonna cut it. This is a serious time for America, and Americans are not going to accept trite crap over real debate this time. If this is the best the GOP can do, they need to seriously think about what they have to offer the American people. Kerry hit a home run last night, you can deny it until you turn blue, but he took control of the Democratic Party last night and he had a strong message. TV ads ain’t gonna win the election for Bush this time, he’s gonna have to earn it. So you better stop trying to blast Kerry with silly pictures and trash talk, and you better come up with a real plan, not just slogans. Otherwise you are in serious trouble.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Bush, I don't hate the GOP. I just don't see the old GOP anymore, I see a party of division. Clinton was absolutely right when he said, "They need a divided America. We do not." GOP better change that perception real quick.

They offer a full populist message that the GOP neglects.
"We are going to stop the outsourcing of your jobs." --This one's a biggie!
"We are going to give you tax breaks for college tuition."
"We are going to bring in alliances to help out in Iraq."
"We are going to bring affordable healthcare to all Americans."
"We are going to bring back fiscal discipline, reduce the deficit."
it goes on and on.

It's a powerful, positive, solid message that will resonate with Americans.

I have the feeling Bush's convention will be loaded with 9-11 and keeping America safe from terror. That's fine, but he's gonna have to really put on a great show and even better debates if he's going to compete.

It's a powerful, solid message with absolutly no foundation or support that it will work. To whit:

"We are going to stop the outsourcing of your jobs." --This one's a biggie!

and how are they going to do that with the high cost of doing business in this country due to unions and artificially high wages, insurance costs, fraud, tariffs, lawsuits, etc.???? The cost of doing business is too high compared to the cost to do it elsewhere. I have seen no evidence from the Democratic party that they are willing to do what is necessary in order to bridge that gap.

"We are going to give you tax breaks for college tuition."

To whom??? To those who've already received the larges tax breaks in history- even those that pay none? The Democrats will not be able to enact better tax legislation for the majority of those who pay taxes. Personally, until they decide to equalize how taxes are decided in this country, their rants will fall on my deaf ears.

"We are going to bring in alliances to help out in Iraq."

Good idea- once again subjugate the nation's defense to outside people; people with absolutely no experience or expertise in defending a nation.

"We are going to bring affordable healthcare to all Americans."

Didn't work for Clinton and it won't work now. Health care is expensive for a host of reason, none the least of which is that FRAUD is rampant. Therefore, by providing it on the backs of those of us who work for living...no thank you.

"We are going to bring back fiscal discipline, reduce the deficit."

Fiscal discipline how? Are they going to end welfare? End Social Security? End illegal immigration and thus illegal benefits? End medicare/medicaid? End donating money to foreign countries? End federal spending on education? End federal spending on Planned Parenthood? The fact is that the items I am willing to cut are not the ones the Democrats are suggesting cutting. They will just weaken the nation.

Except I do not want nor do I vote for a "show". What I want and what I vote for are substance.

You also made an assumption that I am a Bush supporter, which I am not. But then again, you folks on the left are so focused in your hatred of Bush, you cannot think of anything else.

The official George Bush website. Tell me if you see substance there. I think its downright sad.

Well, if you don't support Bush, you could vote for Kerry or even Nader or you could choose to not vote at all. Many people are disgusted with bolth parties as there really seems to be no difference between the two. I haven't voted for President since I voted for Ross Perot in 1992. I will be voting this time, and Kerry has my vote.

Slogans, that's the best you can do, that's why you will lose.

and YOU used a slogan to say it.

Slogans are all the democratic party are made of. you and the others are basing this race on hate bush and nothing else.

what a sad group.

Ummm, did you not see the link on the navigation bar that said "Pres. Bush's Agenda?" It was quite informative.

"We are going to stop the outsourcing of your jobs." --This one's a biggie!

That's unrealistic. Outsourcing is on the decline, anyway, as people are finding out that Indian call centers suck. Outlawing outsourcing is detrimental to the economy, anyway, and will cause quite a crash. It's not like there's a shortage of jobs, anyway. Unemployment is below 5%, and when analysts look at unemployment figures, they assume that about 5% are in the process of switching jobs. Oh, and while I'm at it, Heinz, Kerry's cash cow, has more factories overseas than in America.

"We are going to give you tax breaks for college tuition."

If you're paying your own tuition, you can write it and all your school supplies off as education expenses. Give them more of a break and it's called a scholarship.

"We are going to bring in alliances to help out in Iraq."

We already have a huge alliance of nations there. The ones that have pulled out, like France, Russia, Germany, Spain, and the Phillipines, we don't want and will never get support from, anyway.

"We are going to bring affordable healthcare to all Americans."

When? Clinton offered this and had 8 years to deliver. This is just an empty promise made to those who can't afford health care.

"We are going to bring back fiscal discipline, reduce the deficit."

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Do you really believe that? Politicians buy elderly votes with money they don't have, knowing that by the time the bill comes, they'll be dead and the next generation will have to pay for it. That's why I just don't like a lot of these politicians, they're buying my parents' votes with MY money. The Dems aren't going to pay off the national debt. The last time the Reps went on a huge spending spree and drove up the national debt, the Dems criticized them for not spending enough!

As for an anti-Kerry campaign, you're one to talk. When I look at Dem campaigns, I hear about 3/4 "Bush is a liar," and the remaining 1/4 is "Did I mention that I won THREE purple hearts?" Kerry's a waffler who's trying to cover up the negative aspects of his Vietnam record to get votes from the positive end. The rest of the Dems just spew propoganda and rhetoric that does nothing but bash Bush. Bush lists how he has defended the country, rooted out terrorists, stimulated the economy with his tax cut, and given education a positive reform with his "No Child Left Behind" act. All the dems seem to be able to do is bash Bush.

Come on GOP! What's Bush going to do about Iraq? What is the plan to get our troops out of there? Is he going to bring international support? If so how? How's he going to defeat the insurgents? How much more is it going to cost? What's the plan? What's the exit strategy? He's been living and breathing this thing for a year and a half, he should know better then anyone how to finish the job, so what's the plan? Americans want Iraq to work, let's hear it.

Our plan seems to be working pretty well. if you would read, you would know that elections are planned and that we will leave any time asked. you know nothing about what it takes to execute this WAR on TERRORISM of which, Iraq is just a battle.

What is Kerry's plan? Don't say internationalize it as it already is. Just because France and Germany are not involved, that does not mean that it is not an international effort.

You are as dumb as a rock.

No you're not, the Democratic is as beholden to corporate America as the Republicans are maybe more so. Unions are so ineffective nowadays that nothing, I repeat nothing will happen.

"We are going to give you tax breaks for college tuition."

Yeah after we raise every other tax known to man. Ahemmm can anybody say massive middle class tax raise?
"We are going to bring in alliances to help out in Iraq."

We are going to hand over defense of the U.S. to the U.N.
"We are going to bring affordable healthcare to all Americans."

We are going to once again attempt a socialist governmental takeover pf 1/8th of the economy. Taxpayer paid for healthcare is not a right guaranteed by the constitution.

"We are going to bring back fiscal discipline, reduce the deficit."

Lol this is the best one, if there was no Iraq we would have no deficits right now because Repubs control congress and therefore the spending. Demos don't know what a spending cut is. Should I bust out my stats on Reaganomics and blow this out of the water?

Last night was all a show, all smoke and mirrors. Looks like things haven't changed much since '92.

Oh one more thought, Jihad Johnny said that he would raise taxes on every American who makes over 200,000, if by some miracle he gets elected how much you wanna bet that goes down to around 30,000? An infamous impeached president from Arkansas said the same thing and taxed everybody above 30,000 once upon a time.

LOL I just can't believe that people fall for the same crap.

They don't. The GOPs calling kerry Liberal is a joke since their candidate Bush is a Liberal as well. At least his spending is very liberal. The two parties are not offering much of a choice at all yet both are trying to pretend that these two are polar opposites.

rest of your moniker with mention as it attempts to denigrate my religion..

Bush will win BIG!!
The rhetoric you heard from Carrie( as in a friggin horror film if that jerk get's near the White House),er, Kerry, is offering up the same old diatribe of liberal causes ad nauseum...
More for education...education spending is UP 35% under Bush
National health care...never gonna happen can't afford it... one specific reason is malicious court decisions against Doctors brought forth by the greed of trial lawyers like your vp candidate Edwards...
Kerry tough on WOT!!! gimme a break the guys a pacifist globalist UN butt-kissin pussy...He's voted AGAINST nearly all military expenditures since his lying ass got into office... Ditto for his votes on intelligence..Namely that he voted for a weaker, less effective, CIA..
That Vietnam record of his won't hold up to scruntity either and he will soon be exposed as a fraud in an upcoming book from one of his "swift boat" comrades..
The Repubs also need to point out he and Edwards continuing support for partial birth murder....
Kerry will be toast come Nov. bank on it...
Ok and by the way SCREW YOU for attempting to demean Christianity you hedonistic, nihilist, athiest, moron...
Was that clear enough for ya junior...

The DNC just got through with their leftist freak show, and ironically, their numbers are FALLING!!! Gee, what does that tell ya? It says loud and clear that that democrap party's representation now days is so far frick'n left, that they're now alienating even their own people.

I think you'll see more democrats vote Republican in this election than in any other time in history, simply because of how far left this party has gone. You have mm sitting in the PRESIDENTIAL BOX at this carnival.... gimme a freak'n break!!

The left is far out today, they're all a bunch of fucking wack jobs.

Pale, even the Washington Post, no bastion of Conservatism, actually agrees with you somewhat:

Missed Opportunity

Friday, July 30, 2004; Page A18

AL GORE AND George W. Bush accepted their parties' 2000 nominations for the presidency with an optimism fueled by seeming prosperity at home and apparent security in a post-Cold War world. In accepting the Democratic nomination last night, John F. Kerry spoke to a far more anxious America, one that has weathered a recession and, more important, entered what the nominee called "a global war on terror against an enemy unlike we've ever known before." Mr. Kerry therefore sought above all to make the case that he could be trusted to lead a nation at war, and rightly so; he and Mr. Bush must be judged first and foremost on those grounds. But on that basis, though Mr. Kerry spoke confidently and eloquently, his speech was in many respects a disappointment.

Mr. Kerry deserves credit for recognizing the demands of fighting a war and for promising to strengthen the military accordingly. He talked movingly of how his combat experience would temper his decision making: "I know what kids go through when they are carrying an M-16 in a dangerous place and they can't tell friend from foe." The responsibility of sending troops into danger should weigh on a commander in chief. But so must the responsibility of protecting the nation against a shadowy foe not easily deterred by traditional means. Mr. Kerry last night elided the charged question of whether, as president, he would have gone to war in Iraq. He offered not a word to celebrate the freeing of Afghans from the Taliban, or Iraqis from Saddam Hussein, and not a word about helping either nation toward democracy.

Mr. Kerry could have spoken the difficult truth that U.S. troops will be needed in Iraq for a long time. He could have reaffirmed his commitment to completing the task of helping build democracy. Instead, he chose words that seemed designed to give the impression that he could engineer a quick and painless exit.

Nor did Mr. Kerry's statements about future threats do justice to the complexity of today's challenge. "As president, I will ask hard questions and demand hard evidence," he said, a well-aimed shot at the Bush administration's failures to do the same. For many in the hall last night, the intelligence lapses in Iraq prove the wrongness of Mr. Bush's preemption strategy, and Mr. Kerry seemed to agree, saying that "the only justification for going to war" would be "a threat that was real and imminent." Yet a President Kerry, too, would face momentous decisions based on inevitably imperfect information, whether about Iran or North Korea or dangers yet to emerge. How would he respond? Will it always be safe to wait?
