Senator John Thune: Top Senate Republican threatens to tank the economy if he can't cut Social Security

Do you blame Trump or Biden for COVID, Ukraine war, and the world-wide supply chain clusterfuck which led to inflation?

Inflation was created by years and years of Fed pumping. This is a very bipartisan problem.

In 2011, after the GOP took control of the House, Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling unless then-President Barack Obama agreed to significant spending cuts to the federal budget.

Oddly they did not do this when Trump was president and they held the House and Senate. They insisted on tax cuts.
Tax cuts are fine. CUT SPENDING.

7.8 trillion in new debt under Trump. Tell me about it. Spending cuts alone with never cover 31 trillion in debt.
Paying off the debt in full is a prospect that is beyond hopeless.

It was potentially payable 20 years ago with massive spending cuts and the theoretical will of the people to keep it that way.

After Obama's presidency, yeah, no, not even as a theoretical, even if the idiots who voted for Obama could ever get their heads out of their collective collectivist asses, the timeline for paying it down even with strict limits on spending and ending all entitlements stretches out for so many decades as to be utterly implausible.

It is better at this point for the bankrupt entity called the United States of America to cease existing and for something else to start fresh. It is better for individual states to fracture off.

Senate Minority Whip John Thune said Republicans want to hold the country's credit hostage if they can't cut Social Security benefits.

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. Senate, said on Tuesday that the GOP plans to use the debt ceiling as leverage to make cuts to Social Security and other social safety net programs.

Does Thune understand who owns the Social Security money? What do you think?
This is yellow journalism

Other than raising the retirement age what “CUTS!!!” are repubs suggesting?

Paying off the debt in full is a prospect that is beyond hopeless.

Especially when one adds 7.8 trillion to it in only four years.

/----/ I saw a lot about the debt ceiling and reining in runaway spending, but nothing on cutting social security in that article. He did suggest raising the age to 70, but that's about it.

/----/ You mean under Congress controlled by democRATs. And no, I'm not letting the GOP off scott-free. Still waiting for the democRAT balanced budget.

Nope. Republicans controlled the first two years and nothing passes unless Trump signs it.

7.8 trillion in new debt in just 4 years.

/----/ I guess you missed the politics running Washington. But since you're only 9 years old - you get a free pass.

Why didn't he want to sign it? It didn't give enough money away.

The president criticized the bill for only giving Americas $600 as part of the COVID-19 relief package while foreign countries were to receive tens of millions of dollars.

President Trump called for Americans to get $2,000, saying, “Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries, lobbyists and special interests while sending the bare minimum to the American people.”

/----/ Giving our money away to foreign countries instead of back to Americans who pay the taxes is a bad idea? Seriously? Do you hate America that much?

You. Are. Fucking. Retarded.

Recession has a definition. The stock market and thus 401k and other such investments have cratered. Inflation is insane and everything costs so much more.

Oh yeah. This is working like gangbusters.
Inflation is an issue accross the entire planet, assfuck. That Biden's fault? Gas prices are dropping which is one of the drivers of inflation, ditto head.

It's so entertaining when Repubs pretend to be fiscally conservative.............cuz a Dem is in the WH.

Funny, you don't seem to like me, and you call me that, yet you clearly are someone that likes prolific amounts of cock in your ass.

The inflation of our currency is driven by the ridiculous amounts spending by our government, as asked for by this dementia-addled President's handlers and the rubber stamps of the socialist party in Congress.

Thankfully they no longer hold the house but the damage has already been done.
