Senate cannot try a private citizen !!!

Let me spell it out.

Trump, for months has created and promoted and regurgitated his BIG LIE, that the election was fraudulent and stolen from him... He mesmerized and convinced his followers in to believing this big lie, with his black magic, cult capturing abilities.

That one thing alone, is reason to impeach the EVIL sob. He hurt you and abused his power and trust in him, to do it. And he harmed, greatly, the USA, and our country.... our democracy, and republic... through his big lie.

You can continue to live in his big lie world, but it does not change the facts nor the history that is being recorded about him, and you, his cult members that he continues to use and abuse, for his own personal use....done through his mastered mind control....
So, you can impeach a former President for a lie?

That really where you want to go?
Yes, of course you can...when the big lie leads thousands of Americans in to an attempted insurrection!!!
And there is no reason to believe there was any lie or any attempted insurrection. If those people had planned an insurrection they would have come armed and could not have been stopped by being asked politely to go away.
No reason not to believe it, either.
There are dozens of reason not to believe, the first being the character of the people making the claim.
But you supported trump. So character doesn't matter to you.

Trump was not a private citizen on the day that he committed the offense for which he's been impeached.

The offense and the impeachment both happened while he was still POtUS.
What offense? He hasn't done anything.

ANd again, Q is right CONGRESS has no legal authority to try citizen Trump------if he broke any laws that would be a regular police matter.

Congress does not have the right to try anyone ... Congress is only allowed to impeach and remove from office ... Article III relief has never been asked for in these matters, and it's doubtful the courts would attempt to weight in on a strictly political matter ...

If you and I said the things The Donald and Rudy Brown-sweat said on Jan 6th ... we would be in jail right now, make no mistake about that ... this is an open-and-shut case if a common person incited this riot ... do we keep the President to a lower standard in this? ... actual lawyers who post derogatory videos about The Donald say it could go either way, he is the President and his comments that faithful day were strictly political ... and SCOTUS generally gives great latitude to Free Speech in political matters ... on the other hand, would a "normally prudent person" know that such words, in such a climate would lead directly to immediate violence? ...

A police officer was murdered ... be very careful what you're defending here ... you're fucked up if you don't condemn this at the highest level ... The Donald had an opportunity to prevent this and failed to act ...

Only if convicted, and we know that won't happen...

Do we? Do you really think that there aren't 17 Republicans who hate Trump in the Senate and blame him for the carnage he inflicted on their party.

He can always run for office. There's nothing written anywhere which precludes it.

He would not, however, be able to serve if convicted. First, we know that's never going to happen. Second, it's pretty clear to anyone of any measurable intelligence that he's got exactly zero chance of ever being elected again, so that's a moot point...

If he's convicted, there's no way he'd bet on the ballot in many states.

As far as him never getting elected again... he was never supposed to get elected to start with.

Take away something for which he'd have no use anyway?

Well, that's fucking brilliant.

Well, to keep him from selling that information, to start with. We know the guy is desperate for money with his businesses now being toxic and his creditors a calling.

Although the fact of the matter is that impeachment doesn't "strip him of any access" to classified material. He didn't lose access after the democrats impeached him the first time. Why would he lose access when they fail to remove him from office this time?

That's why they need to convict him, to strip him of access.

Nope. It has exactly no bearing on pardons whatsoever...

We'll see. Nobody's ever tested the theory before.

Whether he did that or not is a matter for the trial.

Spending millions of dollars on an impeachment that you know is destined to fail, just to embarrass him, would be gross negligence on the part of the democrats.

Everything you list matters ONLY if he's convicted. Do you really believe he'll be convicted? Do you think Republicans will hand democrats such a victory?

The Republicans might not be capable of common decency, we've seen that in the last four years, but they are capable of self-preservation. By not convicting Trump, they will have created the executive power of "inciting a mob" to attack Congress.

If he's not convicted, then the whole affair is for nothing and, in fact, will prove to be a much bigger embarrassment to democrats than it ever would be to Trump.

So, given that he won't be convicted, what's the point?

Actually, the real political peril is for the REpublicans. If they vote to convict, the Bleach Drinkers will turn on them. If they fail to convict, they will have openly endorsed Trump's racism and attacks on democracy. they are kind of screwed either way, but they are better off convicting him and purging him from their party.

They have zero constitutional power or right to do so
Trying T on fake charges is only a “ Soviet show trial “

I agree. Was watching the news yesterday and a Senator said the same thing. They can't impeach a private citizen and that's what Trump is.

One would think the people we vote in to represent us would know that. Imbeciles.

Don't look now but you are doing the same thing. Who decides what is a riot and what is a protest?
The police do. And apparently their opinion is also somewhat dependent on who is being protested.

If someone sneezes at a police violence protest, it is declared a riot.

Does taking over a police station and a a couple of city blocks for a month or two count as a peaceful protest? LOL

Common decency over the last 4 years was gone before Trump ever took office. Hillary saw to that with the phony dossier followed up by the FBI lying to the courts and 4 years of lies and even an even TWO impeatcments with no evidence, one with not even one bit of testimony and completed in 7 hours. Democrats don’t have a clue what common decency means. They pout, complain and throw tantrums when they don’t get their way. The country, the Constitution and the rule of law be damned.

Racism? LOL, your white guilt is showing again.

They should vote not to convict. Only white-guilt ridden lefties will see that as a support of racism and an attack on Democracy. Those of us with IQ’s higher than our shoe sizes recognize that the impeachment was nothing more than a political ploy.

Trump is no longer in office---so Congress can not remove IMPEACH and remove him. The congress is simply trying to abuse their powers to harass the president and try to tell the american who they can and can't vote for. It's bs.

Cletus, you don't need "testimony" when you commit the crime ON VIDEO TAPE with thousands of witnesses.

And before you whine about what an unfair shake Trump got, your side impeached Clinton over a blow job.

and Clinton was actually pretty good at his job.

The funny thing about Trump's impeachment is you almost forgot it happened because since then, we've had a plague that killed 400K people, lost 65 million jobs and had riots in the streets.

Moving on.

Racism? LOL, your white guilt is showing again.

Again, the Republicans are screwed no matter what they do, because they have no good options.

But convicting Trump at least draws a line, "We don't support corruption/racism/incompetence of the last four years."

Evidently that didn’t work for election fraud. Funny how that works.

The funny thing about Trump's impeachment is you almost forgot it happened because since then, we've had a plague that killed 400K people, lost 65 million jobs and had riots in the streets.

We have been through this. Only mindless drones think the China flu was Trump’s fault.

But convicting Trump at least draws a line, "We don't support corruption/racism/incompetence of the last four years."

Only the brain-dead Democrats believe that. They can vote not to impeach and they won’t lose a single Republican vote. Democrats have been gone far too long...I no longer care what Democrats think or don’t think.

Does taking over a police station and a a couple of city blocks for a month or two count as a peaceful protest? LOL
No, but apparently someone threw a water bottle at Lafayette Square and that justified a beat down of hundreds of peaceful protesters who had no idea why they were being beaten.

No, but apparently someone threw a water bottle at Lafayette Square and that justified a beat down of hundreds of peaceful protesters who had no idea why they were being beaten.

The difference is that the left loses their minds over one and doesn’t really seem to care over the other. BTW, the occupying of the police station was a much more significant event, which the left didn’t really have a problem with. We all know what the left’s reaction would have been if the tables were reversed in this election. The storming of the Capital by small number of people relative to the amount of people on the grounds would pale in comparison to what the left would still be doing. The country would be burning and federal/state buildings would be destroyed all over the country. Normal, non-violent Democrats know this deep down, but their loyalty to the party supersedes their common sense.

How is occupying a police station a much more significant event?

Remember when Trump won in 2016 and we burned cities down in riot because Clinton refused to concede and spread a hoax about the election being illegitimate? Oh wait, no, millions of people knitted hats and marched peacefully the day after the inauguration.

Former President Donald Trump can be convicted in an impeachment trial for his role in inciting the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6 even though he is no longer in office, a bipartisan group of constitutional law scholars wrote in a letter Thursday.
And other and more impressive legal scholars say just the opposite. Alan Dershowitz is one.
During the stealing of the presidency some judges cited the principal of "latches" to deny Trump
legal pleadings.

Latches means in plain English "not timely or you're too late".
I wouldn't use Dershowitz as an example. He is listed as a visitor to Jeffrey's island.

Could be a reason for his reversal as an ultra-liberal to a defender of trump and Jeffrey, yes?
Your boys during Trump's inauguration American hater.
Anarchists aren’t anyone’s boys. You are just desperate now.
There was no outrage over on your side when it happens to a Republican. Only silence, and in fact Harris raised funds for bail for the democrat scumbags over the summer. That should get her impeached.
No, Harris didn't. You scumbags are trying to treat a legitimate protest over murders of unarmed citizens that actually happened to an insurrection because of something that didn't. There is no equivalence.
1 day of rioting incited and engaged in by Antifa and BLM, the 1st Trump even in hundreds, with millions attending those events combined, in which violence occurred...but it was just another day of violence for Antifa and BLM.

The destruction caused by these foreign-funded Democrat-supported domestic terrorist has cost our communities hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars...

...and unlike the Capitol event, it continues...just as Harris said it would...just as she called for it to continue.

"IT SHOULD NOT STOP. WE SHOULD NOT STOP!'

IMPEACH HER ASS!
Not that accuracy matters to you...but supporting PROTESTS is far different from supporting riots.

You hate both in the case of the events of the summer and SUPPORT both in the case of the Capitol Insurrection
Don't look now but you are doing the same thing. Who decides what is a riot and what is a protest?
No one but Trumpers could watch and hear all the video of those SAVAGES who broke in to the capitol searching for Pence to hang him, and others, or brutally and viciously attacking Capitol police with flag poles still bearing our sacred flag and 2x4s, and baseball bats, and fire extinguishers,

could not know the attack on the capitol was a riot and attempted insurrection.

You lost your "the party of law and order" claim....that you never should have owned in the first place.
They were let in by the police. It was a photo op your still milking. The one breaking the windows was a Bernie supporter so you have skin in this also.
The police did not let anybody in to destroy and kill.
They let them in for a photo op. Democrats have blood on their hands.
Nope! They are under investigation for being TRUMP sympathizers...
There are also blm and antifa under investigation, we know they're liberals.
We do? What we know is that they are mostly black and you can translate that any way it suits you. If liberal they probably vote with the Dems, but so what? Violence
should not be tolerated and our military should clean it up because it is probably the same group that is being encouraged by white supremacists or some other entity.

Businesses were boarding up in case Trump won, not in case he lost. You know that. Everybody knows that. Even business owners that voted for Biden know that.

Trump "sympathizers"? Nothing authoritarian or fascist about that....right?
When did we turn into the CCP? Or do you imagine it's some sort of crime to
politically support Trump?
The word sympathizer was me, being kind in describing the Capitol police that could have nefariously let the protesters in....

I could have said some of trump insurrectionists in the capitol police.... are being investigated.... but thought calling them insurrectionists was not fair, because the investigation in to them, is not complete.... thus trump sympathizers...not co conspirator insurrectionists....at least not yet.

Clinton had nothing to do with impeachment silly. This is total nonsense.

I can’t help if businesses were boarding up based on irrational fear stoked by Republicans and Trump. It’s meaningless. Democrats don’t riot because their candidate lost. That’s you guys.
