There is hope after all. Here is the thing. There is no outside faucet of any kind on this house. So, I am thinking of getting some self watering hanging planters and some for the patio. I don't have time to get into some major DIY stuff.............otherwise I would have the time to water my plants. So, have you guys used them and what kind do you recommend?

I made my own with a 5 gallon bucket last year. I ripped an old towel to use as a wick that fed directly into the base of the planter.

It wasn't pretty, just an experiment. I never had to water the plants all summer and fall.

If you have a lot of dogs in the neighborhood, I suggest a bush. Preferably one you like in yellow.

The dogs are all behind gated fences. There are lots of cats, one woodpecker, and a good 5 blocks away at least one jackass. The jackass starts and the dogs follow in some twisted version of an animal band.
