Scotland Affirms Free Tampons as Human Right
Once Scotland was at the forefront of promoting liberty. The Scottish Enlightenment produced Adam Smith himself, the father of modern capitalism, aka economic freedom. Having tragically succumbed to moonbattery, Scotland now attacks liberty by the familiar progressive tactic of promoting absurd arbitrary “rights” at the expense of meaningful rights.

Scottish parliament voted almost unanimously on Wednesday to provide “free” feminine hygiene products to anyone who needs them, by offering pads and tampons in certain public spaces to the tune of an estimated $31 million annually.
By “free,” they mean that these products are to be paid for by people other than those who use them, on a coercive basis, violating fundamental property rights.
Congresscommie Grace Meng (D-NY) has already proposed doing something similar in the USA.
According to Monica Lennon, the bill’s sponsor, this comical cross of feminism and socialism is a “milestone moment for normalizing menstruation in Scotland and sending out that real signal to people in this country about how seriously parliament takes gender equality.”
If they really want gender equality, shaving cream ought to be free too.
This will eventually result in tampons being difficult to obtain, if the history of socialism is any guide. Sales will stop because you can’t compete with free. But then Big Government will fail to keep up with the infinite demand associated with zero cost. As Milton Friedman observed, “If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there’d be a shortage of sand.” Women will end up buying tampons on the black market for 10 times what they cost when they were for sale in stores.
But the important thing is moving the Overton window a little further toward Marxism.
You can see where this is heading. If tampons are free, why shouldn’t shampoo be free? If shampoo is free, why shouldn’t bath towels be free? If people have a right to free bath towels, surely they have a right to essentials like free houses and cars.
