Those dirty Jewish Israelis, who are global leaders in agriculture and irrigation technology (I mean they built a self-sustainable food supply out of the desert and from going from nothing to the by far best in the world) , are sharing those know-hows and expertise with poor, starving Africans (OMG even Muslim countries)! Those bastards! They are probably up to something. I know by helping starving people eat, they will install Zionist in the African governments, media and banks. They are going to take-over Africa!!!

Stop them now, tell them that helping starving and desperate people create substainable and self-sufficient food sources is NOT a good justification for allowing Zionist to take over and control their country!

Israel to share agricultural know-how with struggling African farmers - Haaretz - Israel News
Israel is getting ready to share technology and skills with African countries struggling to sustain agricultural output due to increasingly unreliable rains, said Agriculture Minister Shalom Simhon.

Simhon said sharing know-how, especially in irrigation and water management, was his focus on a tour of Senegal, Ivory Coast and Gabon.

His trip comes as some 10 million people in West and Central Africa face food shortages due to failed rains.

"We are not arriving here in Africa to take resources from the African countries. We are coming here in order to give know-how and abilities to these countries to develop," Simhon told Reuters in Senegal over the weekend.

"Israel is the only country in the world that has been able to conquer the desert. More than 50 percent of our exports are coming from semi-arid areas. This is our strength - this we would like to bring here."

Simhon said Israel could help Senegal reduce dependence on imports, which currently account for around 80 percent of food needs. "Senegal's traditional agriculture is one crop a year. We know how to do three and four crops a year. We can teach that."

The minister would not give any figures on proposed Israeli aid to African farming or detail the role of Israeli companies in such programs. Senegal already hosts several Israeli-funded projects looking at using low-pressure drip irrigation to increase productivity.

Israeli farmers have been heavily involved in modern developments in irrigation, including drip irrigation systems and water recycling methods.

Some experts believe these techniques could become invaluable in Africa's arid growing regions, which risk becoming increasingly vulnerable to climate change.

"One of the most important things is the water technology and usage. The world is drying up. There is less water, there is less rain days," Simhon said.

"In Israel we are using recycled water, desalinated water, rain water, salty water, which almost anywhere in the world we will not have any use for (but) we (use to) make the sweetest tomatoes," he added.

Simhon said advances in technology had allowed Israeli farmers to use 30 percent less water while almost doubling output over the last decade, leaving the country with a 150 percent food surplus.

"We have over-production in Israel. It would have been very easy for us just to load the boat or the airplane ... but we think we can do it differently," he said.

Please provide sources with exact amount of money you are spending for development projects in these countries.
Other thing: How much worth is the infra-structure (including water-infrastructure) you bombed in Gaza and Lebanon?

Thanks for your motivation to work with me to erase propaganda from the world.

How much is the cubic-meter per second your illegal settlers pump out of ground-water of West-Bank?
Thanks.

This puff piece neglects to mention:

* Israel appropriates 83% of the water pumped from West Bank aquifers (including the 10% which goes to its illegal settlers in the West Bank,) leaving Palestinians with only 17%.

Per capita, Israelis get about 5 times more water than Palestinians -- Israelis receive an average of 92.5 gallons per person per day, while Palestinians in the West Bank get an average of 18.5 gallons per person per day. The minimum amount of water recommended for household and urban use is 26.4 gallons per person per day, according to the U.S. Agency for International Development and the World Health Organization.

* Israel takes the lion's share of the water from the Jordan River. Immediately after the 1967 war, Israel seized the Jordan River headwaters, destroyed 140 Palestinian water pumps in the Jordan Valley, and diverted the water to its National Water Carrier. Of the water pumped out, Israel takes about 70%; Jordan takes the other 30%. Although the Jordan River was a traditional water source for the West Bank, Palestinians are now denied use of this water.

* Israel irrigates more than 50% of its agricultural land. Even more shocking, more than half of the water Israel dumps on its crops is drinking-quality water, a glaringly wasteful procedure in an area facing acute water shortages.

In contrast, Palestinian farmers rely almost entirely on rain-fed agricultural techniques - less than 8% of the agricultural land in the West Bank is irrigated, while about 11% in Gaza is irrigated. Overall, Israel uses 8 times more water on irrigation than Palestinians do.

Animals in Gulags did not complain against anything, what the fuck is wrong with the Palestinans? In the past everything was better.

Actually, African farmers need to be saved from subsidies, price supports and buy-backs in EU countries, which give them no access to those markets for their ag products.

Just sayin'.

It seems strange that a people can live in a place for hundreds if not thousands of years then the imperialists come and the next thing you see is food aid.

African farmers, in fact most of the people of Africa, need to hire somebody to eliminate the viscious war lords and mullahs. And then they need a system of protected human rights, free markets, and capitalism, and they will probably become the economic marvel of the world.

What continent has more natural resources than Africa? And yet what continent has more poor people on average? Human rights - free markets - capitalism. That's their ticket out.

The Israelis can show them HOW to make the most of the resources they have, and the Israelis should be praised and commended for making that effort. But the Israelis are a tiny population in a tiny country and they can't do it for them. Nor can we who live in big countries with big populations.

But just as Americans had to throw off the yoke of oppressive government in order to become prosperous, so must the people of Africa. The hands on work of private charities has accomplished miracles in Africa. The efforts of government have unfortunately mostly perpetuated the problems that exist.

I saved this old Walter Williams essay from some years ago on this subject and there's another he wrote that is even more poignant that I'm still looking for:

A MINORITY VIEW

FOREIGN AID TO AFRICA

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, along with other G-8 leaders, have called for the doubling of foreign aid to African nations by 2010. The idea that foreign aid is a route out of poverty and political instability is not only bankrupted but a cruel and evil hoax as well.

Nearly every sub-Saharan African nation is poorer now than when they became independent during the '60s and '70s. Since that time, food production has fallen by roughly 20 percent. Since 1975, per capita GDP has fallen at a rate of half of one percent annually. Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo estimated, "Corrupt African leaders have stolen at least $140 billion from their people in the [four] decades since independence." The call for more aid by George Bush, Tony Blair and other G-8 leaders will produce nothing but more of the same.

Zimbabwe provides an excellent example of why foreign aid, as a way out of poverty, is a fool's errand. Salem University, Winston-Salem, N.C., professor Craig Richardson explores this further in "Learning from Failure: Property Rights, Land Reforms, and the Hidden Architecture of Capitalism," a paper written for the American Enterprise Institute's Development Policy Outlook Series (2006). Not that long ago, Zimbabwe was one of the more prosperous African countries. Professor Richardson writes, "Few countries have failed as spectacularly, or as tragically, as Zimbabwe has over the past half decade. Zimbabwe has transformed from one of Africa's rare success stories into one of its worst economic and humanitarian disasters." It has the world's highest rate of inflation, currently over 1,000 percent. To put this into perspective, in 1995, one U.S. dollar exchanged for eight Zimbabwe dollars; today, one U.S. dollar exchanges for 100,000 Zimbabwe dollars. Unemployment hovers around 80 percent. Its financial institutions are collapsing. The specter of mass starvation hangs over a country that once exported food.

A British missionary who lived in Beirut and visited Palestine in 1859 described the southern coastal area as "a very ocean of wheat," and the British Consul in Jerusalem, James Finn, reported that "the fields would do credit to British farming."(5)

The German geographer Alexander Scholch concluded that between 1856 and 1882 "Palestine produced a relatively large agricultural surplus which was marketed in neighboring countries, such as Egypt and Lebanon, and increasingly exported to Europe. These exports included wheat, barley, dura, maise, sesame, olive oil, soap, oranges, vegetables and cotton. Among the European importers of Palestinian produce were France, England, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Malta."(6)

Lawrence Oliphant, who visited Palestine in 1887, wrote that Palestine's Valley of Esdraelon was "a huge green lake of waving wheat, with its village-crowned mounds rising from it like islands; and it presents one of the most striking pictures of luxuriant fertility which it is possible to conceive."(7) This Palestinian wheat had historically played an important part in international commerce. According to Paul Masson, a French economic historian, "wheat shipments from the Palestinian port of Acre had helped to save southern France from famine on numerous occasions in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries."(8)

Agricultural techniques in Palestine, especially in citriculture, were among the most advanced in the world long before the first Zionist settlers came to its shores. In 1856, the American consul in Jerusalem, Henry Gillman, "outlined reasons why orange growers in Florida would find it advantageous to adopt Palestinian techniques of grafting directly onto lemon trees."^ In 1893, the British Consul advised his government of the value of importing "young trees procured from Jaffa" to improve production in Australia and South Africa.(10)

Nope, your piece doesn’t mention the Palestinians at all.

It’s too busy boasting about Israel’s agricultural “accomplishments” which it seems to imagine occur in a vacuum, complete with ridiculous claims like

"Israel is the only country in the world that has been able to conquer the desert."

This piece makes no acknowledgment that the bulk of the water Israel uses to create its seemingly miraculous agricultural success is actually stolen from other peoples who are denied their fair share of their own resources, which is then further squandered via Israel’s senseless water policies - such as irrigating orange groves in the middle of the Negev Desert.

It makes no mention of the impact on the region's limited water resources caused by Israel's importation of millions of non-native people who are not required nor expected to implement water-thrifty behavior.

It makes no mention of the drastically sinking levels of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret), the Jordan River and the Dead Sea, which are a direct result of Israel’s exhorbitant and unsustainable water consumption.

And nope, you have no inkling of a clue at the utter and disgusting irony of posting your glowing praise of Israel helping African people - even using a purported MLK quote in your siggy - while at the same time calling people names like “******.”

Nope, no shame in your game at all.

You mean, Arabs. There is no such group of so-called Palestinians.

Palestinian people do not exist

It's all a made-up fiction. Just like Muhammad's Night Journey lol

Israel has accomplished more with water than the ignorant Arab camel herders have accomplished with oil.

Jews=Smart
Arabs=Dumb.

Quit whining, Abdullah. Israeli's figured out a way to purify water. Arabs are still drinking camel urine.

More excuses for Arab failure, Habib? About time Arabs stopped blaming Jews for their failures.

No shame with Arab countries warmly embracing the president of Sudan, Habib, an indicted war criminal for his role in the genocide in Darfur. Arabs and Muslims are such good people...

Ironic racism is the very essence of Zionism. Cowardice, which can be seen when GHook can't bring himself to type out "******," is also a major part of the ideology.

Because I respect many black men! Beyond the quote, I consider MLK, Fredrick Douglass and Brooker T. Washington three of the most important Americans in US history! I respect the men greatly.

Terrorist sympathizing antisemites like you, Al Haq and the Turkish whore sometimes bring out the worst in mean. I have recently praised Hamas for stopping the violence, regardless of any self-sustaining motivation and I have ALWAYS respected Abbas who has a tough job, but be does it without the hatred that drove Arafat-ass. I have called for a Palestinian State many times and the two state solution is my dream. The Palestinians have suffered no doubt (and many times unjustly - many extremist settlers have caused unjustifable harm to the West Bankers), but that doesn't justify the type of racist hatred you spew for the Jews and Americans alike!

Except, ALL Israeli citizens are constitutionally guaranteed the same freedoms, human rights and civil liberties. Not one Arab Muslim country can say the same.

Every Arab Muslim country is ruled by totalitarian dictators. Basic human rights are denied. Women and gays are subjugated.
