Seriously, if our religion demands celibacy of from our priests, what the hell does that have to do with you? How exactly does the way our priests dress affect you? Mind your own damned business.

Of course, Catholics and non Catholics should be concerned about child abuse within the Church, and you are as entitled to have a valid opinion on that but.... when it comes to how our priests live and dress.... mind your own fucking business.

I believe the incidence of child-molestation is higher when it comes to schoolteachers...but then they don't have a media going after them because they're Christians or some other terrible belief.

I am not, a non-Catholic, however this church has refused to effectively address this issue for decades and I for one am totally PISSED at this churches INACTION and transferring to other locations of the alleged offenders. It IS my business, AND it is EVERYONES business who feel the welfare of children should be monitored.

This is not a 'bash the Catholic church thread' and I am NOT bashing them, it's about any organization that makes the news with this kind of garbage.

Show me anywhere in the Bible where God, or anyone else says a priest or Bishop, should remain celibate, I am ready to be enlightened. And not some Church made up doctrine that God had no hand in.

If you're a Catholic, then you really should know why priests are celibate, and the significance of their 'dress'. If not, then you're not much of a Catholic.

You can suggest whatever you want, I can come back and list several to cite differently. Anyone - Catholic or not - can quote the bible to back up their view. That's just stupid. If you're Catholic, you know why and you really should need to ask.

Of course everyone should be concerned about child abuse.... but your thread was not about the abuse.... it was about satan in the media.... until you decided to make it about celibacy and 'dress'.

Much of what makes the Catholic Church the Catholic Church is doctrine that is not found in the Bible or is taken out of context.


To name a few...

• Elevating Mother Mary
• Confessing sins to a pope
• Celibacy
• Evolution

Don't get me wrong, there are good Christians in Catholic Churches, but the doctrine that they are following is a great hindrance to the blessings God has for them. The reason that these problems keep happening to what some call "holy" people is that they are still living under the law by seeking to approach self righteousness through their own works when they should be looking to Grace for their redemption. I capitalize "Grace" because it is more than just a thing it is a person. It is Jesus Christ, and as long as we put him as the primary focus of our lives, we will lead victorious lives for his yoke is easy and his burden is light.

It is His yoke of love that leads us to repentance and to good works without having to strive to achieve them. A brief read (and comprehension ) of Romans and Galatians would more than suffice anyone who is interested in why.

Trying to legitimize the molestations by saying it's the fault of the Catholic Church's mandate for their priests to be celibate only makes the priests look like some sort of victim. I'm by no means a catholic. All I'm saying is, if you think being celibate will cause you to molest little children then you probably shouldn't be a damn catholic priest.

People seem to think that unless something is in the Bible it can't possibly be true. That idea is ridiculous. It's the Church that creates the scriptures not vice versa.

Let's be honest here. The media doesn't like the Pope. The media has been out to get him since he was made Pope. I'm not a Catholic and it's completely obvious to me.

Let's face it. Catholics are the largest body of Christians in the world. If they can somehow destroy Catholicism, they can shatter the faith that many people have for Christ. At least that's the way they are thinking it. And I have no doubt that the adversary has every intention of getting as many people away from Christ as he can.

The 'guys of of 'dresses' comment was initially meant to be humorous, but was out-of-line and I apologize to CG and others that may have been offended. It was not intended as a blanket derogatory comment to those who wear robes etc.
Robes,Togas and Gowns have been worn for centuries to show office or rank, like judges or high church officials and academic gowns, and the list goes on.

And mentally healthy adults don't let mentally unhealthy adults into positions in which said abuse occurs so there are two options:

a) those committing the abuse are mentally healthy but as corruptible men born in Adam and choosing to continue under the law, fall into the sins which they focus on not committing

or

b) those committing the abuse are not mentally healthy and everyone who put them in those positions and allowed them to remain in those positions as mentally unhealthy individuals are either mentally unhealthy themselves or are perverted.
