According to Professor John Lott, in his book "More Guns, Less Crime," every state that has allowed law abiding citizens to carry guns, has seen a precipitous drop in crime.

But what effect does the use of a gun, even in legal self defense, have on the gun user?

Consider this case, Donna Jackson, of Lincoln County, Oklahoma, and listen to her response after she protects herself from a criminal.

"Cushing, OK – Donna Jackson called 911 early Friday morning to report that she was home alone and a crazy drunk-sounding guy was screaming threats at her and attempting to break into her home. The 57-year-old woman informed the would-be burglar that she was on the phone with police, and she also mentioned that she was armed. (Donna was packin’ a 16-gauge shotgun). That wasn’t much of a deterrent – he was still outside, trying to get in. He kept yelling something about his truck and kept calling for someone named Pat. Donna begged dispatch to get someone out there post haste – she didn’t want to shoot the man, but by god, she would if necessary."

Another day, another drunk shot by Strollingbones.

All rowdy drunks should be shot. The world would be a much better place.

Characterizing an insane man intent on breaking and doing harm as a "rowdy drunk" does disservice to all the rowdy drunks out there.
Guy got what he deserved. Sympathies to the woman on having to replace some windows and doors.

Uuuuummmmm, maybe it would be a life altering traumatic experience. Maybe one would feel no worse than had they swatted a fly. Perhaps a bruise on the shoulder.

If you have a point, make it.

My point is that each of us should investigate how we would feel if we had to do what Ms. Jackson had done.

Clear enough for you?
