What i want to know is how Russia and their arms supplier China tend to deal with the Afghans + Pakistanis that are now forming (at least in their hearts, and that's where it's always started) alliances to become the end of these 2 great Empires desiring to dictate terms to them, not just about Sharia but about mineral mining rights as well.
The West would also like Sharia no longer enforced, and minerals to be mined efficiently (but with better working conditions for the young mineral-field workers).
And The West, Russia and China have a realistic chance to want to work together here, rather than just against each other.
But China might think Russian muscle is enough to grant the Taliban total control over Afghanistan, and thereby the Chinese the stable-ish mining rights for minerals that make car batterries work.
All in all, both moderates and fundamentalists/extremists in Afghanistan are about to lose, and lose big-time. Another 20 to 30 year war, in which they will have to team up with the tribes that are currently after the leading role in Afghanistan.
