If I remember correctly, it was an off shoot on the TV show Gunsmoke. Maybe a TV pilot . He played a U.S. Marshall. My memory is vague on the details like the title.

John played a preacher in one of my most favorite episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger. Sons Of Thunder is the name of the episode and it was a two-part episode in the spring of 1997.
