Predicting food shortages, Sid Miller calls on Gov. Greg Abbott to stop new vehicle inspections at the border

Abbott’s new policy has resulted in hourslong delays and protester blockades at border crossings. The state’s agriculture commissioner criticized the measure as an “economy killing action.”

"Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller called on Gov. Greg Abbott to halt his recent policy of additional commercial inspections at the border, calling the measure “political theater” and predicting it will leave grocery store shelves empty within weeks. In an open letter addressed to the governor Tuesday, Miller said “Your inspection protocol is not stopping illegal immigration,” Miller said in his letter. Miller also said Abbott’s “economy killing action” is exacerbating already strained supply chains and causing massive produce shortages resulting in “untold losses” for Texas businesses.

On Monday, matters went from bad to worse as truckers at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge protested the measure by creating a blockade; the busiest trade crossing in the Rio Grande Valley, has come to a complete halt. A similar protest in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, affecting traffic into and out of El Paso - So far, more than 20,000 commercial trucks have been backed up on the border, Miller said. Miller is running for a third term as agriculture commissioner and is a close ally of former President Donald Trump. “The President’s failed border policy does not need to be enhanced by a state policy that does little or nothing to impact illegal immigration,” Miller said.

How do you call yourself a true Conservative if you are going to attack perhaps one of the greatest governors in the history of the US?? Yea, you may be a Trump ally, but anyone who attacks Abbott is a RINO and can't be trusted....Yesterday, when Abbott shipped a bus load of filthy illegals to DC; that was a brilliant move and totally owned the libs.....I mean usually, transporting dirty illegals is frowned upon and I've been told its illegal...but so what, if you are doing it in a way to own the libs, it is a masterful move.....and the added benefit of this savvy political stunt is that it will help bring down the costs of goods and services thru-out the state; because of the economic activity that is stimulated when you trigger the libs.
