The republicans have taken a "4 point" lead.

Both parties still have less than 50% of respondants saying they would vote for their districts canidate. That gives me hope. I hope they all, democrat and republican, get voted out of office.

Have you been watching some of these recent town hall meetings? It's unbelievable--Americans are out there--these democrat senators & congressmen probably need a little more security at these events. I am watching to see if my senator has the guts to do one. If he does--I'll be there. They are getting laughed at, shouted at, put on the spot & it's all on video. You'll see this if you're watching the right channel. I am certain the Obama media networks will not be showing these August town hall events.

I don't understand the fascination with polls. Polls are created to try and herd the party loyalist into the direction the political whores and media at large want them to go. It is a form of ( attempted ) manipulation.

Is this Republic supposed to be governed based on what polls state, or on the Constitution?

Politicians pay attention to polls. It's an indication of whether they should seek other employment.

With the Dems trying to shove all these programs down our throats as fast as possible without even reading the damn bills, it's the only way for the public to be heard. These town meetings would never have happened if Obama had gotten his way last week.

It ain't a perfect system, but it's the best we got when elections only happen every four-six years.

The same thing happened when CLinton was President and was destroying our nation. People then realized the damage that was being done and put Republicans back in power to clean up the messes Clinton was making everywhere(not just on dresses). American's are already realizing the massive damage that was made by electing Obama Bin Laden to the Presidency and more and more Republicans will get more and more support as we go along.

Unfortunately it will take close to 20 years to clean up the large messes Obama Bin Laden has made in his first hundred days.

The reason I didn't say Democrats is because there were a couple of Republicans that committed career suicide by supporting the bailouts and stimulus package.

Political hack employees pay attention to polls. A lot of them base their actions on polls. I agree with you on that. However, I find it foolish and dangerous, for the employers of this Republic to be doing the same thing. People buy the manipulation every day. This thread is a prime example. Hook, line, and sinker. Polls are meaningless. What matters, is what your state Constitution says, as well as the Constitution of the United States. That is what we govern by.

Depends what poll you read..

Democrats hold lead in RCP by 1.2% and Gallup by 6%.

Also a recent Gallup poll shows 30 states in safe blue terrirtoy while only 4 were red.

As was the case in Gallup's analysis of 2008 yearly data, most states are currently Democratic in their party orientation, with the greatest number (30, including the District of Columbia) classified as solidly Democratic, with an additional 8 states leaning Democratic.

Meanwhile, only four states can be considered solidly Republican -- Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Alaska, with Alabama falling into the leaning Republican category.

Political Party Affiliation: 30 States Blue, 4 Red in 2009 So Far

I really think the numbers are moving this way because of the health care debate combined with the highly cynical and dissaproving view that the majority has with congress. Since the dems are in charge they get hurt more by that view.
