Yeah, Republicans used to be a party that had a strong liberal presence. Today, they are almost all conservatives; the same ideology that opposed civil rights, affirmative action, endorsed slavery etc...

I have many MANY more reasons that prove Trump is more of a progressive than a Conservative.

In the old days, only the people who had a say in how government spending was used, had the right to vote. In other words, the land owners who actually paid taxes. People who don't pay any federal income taxes shouldn't be allowed to vote in federal elections, same with state and local elections. Prove you pay into the till for that taxing authority and then you can vote. And, we subtract out any benefits you receive from that taxing authority in order to calculate if you are allowed to vote or not. It's downright ridiculous that it's possible that we would only vote in a government who is willing to give us free stuff, which is what progressives, liberals, and democrats want. They want us to take care of the poor and they want the poor to be able to elect representatives who will give them even more free stuff. No need to work. Working is not a requirement.

Then there are other conservatives who think there needs to be a literacy test...

A voter test could take care of that to prove they know something about the candidates’ platform. Can you imagine? People would have to learn about the candidates they support on paper! IMHO, it’s more important to target the other end to make these candidates show their worth via testing. That’s the way forward, yet the congressional fossils on the hill will never allow that to occur nor will the newcomers. They don’t want to take a test to show they have any knowledge.

$10K to every black who'd like to return to Africa...no questions asked, no returns allowed. It would cost a lot but worth every penny in my opinion.

These are conservatives who vote republican or would vote republican if they voted for one of the two major parties--I mention this because you seem hung up on the duopoly.

Personally, I think only tax payers should vote. You pay federal income tax and then you can have a say in how federal tax dollars are spent. If you pay state income tax then you can have a say in how state income tax dollars are spent. There's something wrong with a system where people are allowed to vote on how tax dollars are spent when none of those tax dollars collected belong to them.

Paid for in full by blacks who have benefitted from the decisions of whites to free them from slavery, pass laws that allow them jobs over whites, desegregation and the many other white lead events that allowed them the freedom to become anything they are willing to work for.

It's my opinion all reparations have been made when laws were passed that made people equal. If that particular race didn't take advantage of it (or the individuals within that race), that's on them.
Asians were the slaves of the railroad. And look at them now. Mostly successful people. Generations after their enslavement took advantage of their freedom.

But it has really high sales tax. 9.25%.

Where states with income tax have federal income tax deductions TN does not. We get nothing. But we have a heavily taxed population just the same. So the state is flush with money.

What would be the point of suppressing your very own votes?
