When you get to a certain level on the campaign trail, it's not as simple to "eat what the locals eat" or have a simple meal just like everyone else.

I don't know that he's very happy with what he's being charged for his meals either, and no one talks about it, but the host inevitably has to deal with political enemies sneaking into the kitchen — it's like the illicit betting on a horse race, where someone bets on a horse, and pays someone else off to sneak into the other horse's stable with some sort of dope or adulterant before the race.
