Remington Gunmaker Subpoenas Report Cards Of Children Killed At Sandy Hook

A lot of people were put out of a job when asbestos was banned, and tobacco was shown to cause cancer.

Funny I look out over my fence and all I can see is tobacco plants as far as the eye can see...
It still remains a cash crop mainly in Connecticut, Kentucky, North and South Carolina and Virginia....

“We have no explanation for why Remington subpoenaed the Newtown Public School District to obtain the kindergarten and first-grade academic, attendance and disciplinary records of these five school children,” the families’ lead attorney, Josh Koskoff, said in a statement to HuffPost.
We don't buy the story of an unprovoked attack. We are looking for a gang of bullies who were singling some kid out and picking on him, usually a male victim of on-going repeated incidents of schoolyard bullying, teasing, tormenting, and other provocation.

Remington, which made the gun used in the 2012 massacre, has received the disciplinary records, report cards and employment records of several victims.

Remington Arms subpoenaed the report cards, attendance and employment records for five children and four educators killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School as part of a lawsuit brought by the victims’ families.

Lawyers for the families filed a motion to seal the information on Thursday, citing a previous order that kept Remington’s proprietary business information from being shared in the course of the proceedings. The filing argues that sharing the records ― which the school district has released to Remington’s lawyers ― amounts to an insensitive invasion of privacy.

The company has been embroiled in litigation with Sandy Hook families since 2014. Two years earlier, a man walked into the Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school with a Bushmaster AR-15-style rifle and used it to kill 26 people, including 20 children between the ages of 6 and 7. The families argue that the gun manufacturer should be held accountable for marketing a military-grade weapon to civilians.

“The records cannot possibly excuse Remington’s egregious marketing conduct, or be of any assistance in estimating the catastrophic damages in this case,” Koskoff said. “The only relevant part of their attendance records is that they were at their desks on December 14, 2012.”

Remington’s attorneys did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

This seems extraordinarily bizarre to me! Does anyone have any logical guess as to why Remington would be doing this? A dead child is a dead child.
Harassment.

Why the subpoena was granted is the issue

The global market for tobacco is growing about 1.8% per year. Usage of tobacco in the US has dropped drastically.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... Always parsing your response after being caught out on a thin limb...

Harassment.
So had the victims of the shooting been harassing the accused?
Why the subpoena was granted is the issue.
It is and ought to be of interest to the court to ascertain the accused shooter's frame of mind at the time of the incident.

Why does a schoolchild become so angry as to shoot and kill several of his peers? What sort of cruel mockery was endured up to that point?

The explanation is simple: it’s a desperate attempt to intimidate and deflect.

It's no more bizarre than those scuzballs subpoenaing Remington for thousands of random pictures just to harass them.

I hope they find something in the kids' records to drag their parents' names through the mud.

Maybe Remington wants to prove that the kids were smarter than the retard who shot them!?

Dipshit, Remington no longer exists. This article is a complete lie.

Since them, Remington has been dissolved in bankruptcy court, and four insurance companies have taken over the former company’s defense

That’s right. The Remington name lives on, but the company itself doesn’t exist. When you see Remington as a Vista Outdoor brand, it’s not the Remington making this request.

Instead, this is a completely different entity.

Funny how that gets left out of a lot of the discussion. Then again, that’s intentional. After all, when you’re trying to demonize the firearm industry, you can’t really do that by being upfront and admitting the evil gun company you’re accusing of being even more evil doesn’t actually exist anymore.

Also….

Either way, it’s important to remember that attorneys in lawsuits ask for tons of information, often information that ends up being of little use to them. It’s part of how lawsuits work, and the attorneys raising a stink about this know that. They also know the general public is unaware of it and it’s yet another way to paint the defendants as the bad guys.

You think so? The implication was that we can't afford to hold gun manufacturers responsible for their actions because it would put people out of work. That's just nuts.

What actions? Remington didnt shoot anyone. As the case in the Kate Steinle murder showed, the ruling by the court stated the government couldn’t be held accountable for the illegal use of a stolen federal officers weapon. The rifle used at Sandy Hook was not only used illegally, it was a stolen gun….you idiot.

From my post #33……..the link to the article is also there….

Remington made typewriters, sewing machines, and various other appliances as well as firearms. The 5.56mm NATO round of brass cartridge ammunition is a re-branded .233" Remington shell.

That is irrelevant to the premise of this thread. The kids are dead - so why does Remington want their school records? The kids didn't commit suicide or kill each other.
At this point what difference does it make how the kids were murdered? The lunatic leftie is responsible for pulling the trigger...

I hope that them kids are not being judged on how smart they are. That is how this all sounds to me. Do keep in mind that if some were not doing well in school, because of what happened, we will never know if their grades would eventually have gotten better.

God bless you and their families always!!!
