Hear a lot from supposedly religious people about this sin will result in your going to hell, or that sin's punishable by death. But is that true? In theory yes. In practice no.

While many things are punishable by death in the Bible, all of them require a religious trial and determination of guilt. And compared to the US legal system, the burden of proof is almost impossible to meet when it comes to capital offenses. To convict and execute someone for premarital sex, extramarital sex, or gay sex requires 2 witnesses to the act. So unless you routinely have sex in public, your ever even being charged with such a crime wasn't likely. Let alone being convicted and executed for it.

Not to execute one guilty of a capital offense, before he has stood his trial (Num. 35:12)
Not to decide a case on the evidence of a single witness (Deut. 19:15)
