California Gov. Jerry Brown is vetoing legislation requiring police to obtain a court warrant to search the mobile phones of suspects at the time of any arrest.

The Sunday veto means that when police arrest anybody in the Golden State, they may search that person’s mobile phone — which in the digital age likely means the contents of persons’ e-mail, call records, text messages, photos, banking activity, cloud-storage services, and even where the phone has traveled.

They should have plenty of votes to override the veto. It passed almost unanimously.

Oh California. What happened? They've become a fallen giant for sure. Their glory days are definitely over for good. Brown also banned tanning for some Californians this week. That move is likely going to cause quite a few small businesses to fold. More unemployed. Just what California needs. I keep telling people that Socialists/Progressives do not care about freedom & liberty or the Constitution. This is just more proof. Brown is already a disaster out there. Unfortunately things are going to get even worse for Californians. It's very sad.

Actually, shouldn't the be head of the Sicherheistdienst?

Ahh well Del the mobile phone industry has fought tooth and nail to distance themselves from being under the same laws as a landline.

If they had a stack of papers in the car could the police search that?

Yeah, that's exactly the same thing. :doubt:

You can't play frisbee on the beach either. Nor smoke. But if you are an illegal alien driving without a license and no registration the cops aren't allowed to impound your car anymore. But only if you are brown. Whitey still gets his car impounded.

What do you expect that state is literally run by lunatic lefties.
