Another interesting rating, which may partially explain the recent bump in Trump's approval rating to a point never experienced during his presidency to date, is the complete reversal in the public's approval rating on Trump's handling of the coronavirus over the past month, and demonstrating a steadily climbing approval rating among Americans.

By comparison, the same recent polling data reflects abysmal and steadily crashing approval ratings for members of Congress, including:

Nancy Pelosi, with a 38% approval rating: RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Nancy Pelosi: Favorable/Unfavorable

and

Chuck Schumer, with a 30.3% approval rating:

Also noteworthy, the last time the overall approval rating for Congress was above 30% was in early 2009, when a slight boost in approval was shown based on some Americans having confidence in Congress to help with the financial crisis caused by the real estate market crash (that boost was short lived, however). No such boost in American confidence is occurring in the face of this economic crisis:

This is only because the media has rallied nonstop to heap praise on him in this time of crisis, in order help calm Americans and bring us together as a nation to get through this.

General approval rating is broken down by party would show that last time I checked with repub rating in the 90 and demo approval in the low

So in an election year I would expect that the repubs will rally behind trump as obvious there is no other candidate in the repub party that is running. With such a high percentage it can inflate the polls. Especially when there is no alternatives. No other candidates. They are all are jumping on that yugo band wagon

With the virus we see a reversal. When it first broke his message was weak. But its high now because he has brought money into the picture with this 2 trillion package. So throw money at the people and they will respond and that is nothing new. But it is a poll and and once people see who is getting the money they may be less impressed. Businesses are loosing money and people are not working. Time will tell but how long this drags out will be the determining factor

Well with congress, it is what it is when you have two sides arguing and there is debate. With the executive branch there is no or very little debate. You either get on board or it you hit the road jack

Yes. His polling here has been higher since March 13th. When he decided it might be a good idea to let the adults handle things for a while. That number in the top right hand corner was -7.7. Two days ago, I saw the number at -2.0. I notice it has ticked downward to -2.4. That bump he got might be starting to wear off. Overall, his numbers in the swing states haven't moved.

Despite the DNC's, TDS afflicted Moon Bat's and the filthy Libtard media's hate Trump talking points everybody knows Trump has been doing a great job.

sort of amazing what happens when you quit lying to the nation and tell them mostly the truth.

The point of the OP wasn't to turn this into a polling comparison of various candidates -- it was simply to point out that this is currently Trump's highest approval rating of his entire presidency to date, and discuss the factors for why that may be the case, in light of what's currently going on with the coronavirus. Though I'm not surprised some people are unable to discuss the topic at hand, and thus this post was not entirely unpredictable.

The rise in his approval numbers started after March 13th. You'll remember that on the night of March 11th, Trump gave an address to the nation that will probably be remembered as one of the worst that a President has ever given. The next day, the markets have their worst one day drop since 1987. On March 13th, Mike Pence and a group experts from the NIH and CDC are out front. Trump gives a few mumbled words and then hands it off to Pence. Over the next week, they slowly let Trump off the leash. He projects something approaching leadership. Sticking largely to the script when delivering the message. Always flanked by Pence and the experts. That's when his approval numbers rose. That tends to happen when you actually re-assure the America people you are doing something besides tweeting and campaigning and project leadership and action. Because before March 13th, Trump essentially did nothing. RCP differential was a -7.7 the week of March 9th.

OK

According to 538.com, every single country that has had polling where there has been a surge in COVID-19 deaths, the approval rating for the leader has risen, regardless of political leaning. However, the increase has been amongst the bottom in the US compared to the rest of the world.
