Rangers had found the carcasses of the female and her calf in a village in north-eastern Kenya's Garissa County.

A third white giraffe is still alive. It is thought to be the only remaining one in the world, the conservationists added.

Their white appearance is due to a rare condition called leucism, which causes skin cells to have no pigmentation.

News of the white giraffes spread across the world after they were photographed in 2017.

Hoping they kill the poachers and anyone that purchased the furs.

Man, those are beautiful creatures...obviously it is the rarity that makes them so valuable...at the turn of the twentieth century I think it was minks or sables that were almost extinct and they were saved by making the pelts legal to sell and mink or sable and licensed farms started popping up everywhere...[be sure to look all this up as I am rcalling it from about 40 years ago]...I think today [or very soon] between gene splicing and cloning we cannot only stave off extinction but return some species if we so wish and if that is the case then even without the actual creature the word "extinction" will be a misnomer in most cases...didn't mean to go off course there.

What a shame. Leave it to idiot poachers to kill those beautiful animals. They didn't even take the meat. What assholes.

It's as much about the losers that buy the furs. Like the ivory from elephants which is mainly bought in those Asian countries. Top dollar.

The love of money........

Why would people want a WHITE giraffe skin? No one can look at that skin if it's blank white and say "Oh, yes, that's a giraffe rug. Cool." If they killed the giraffes to eat, it would be less infuriating, but you'd think EVERYONE would realize how rare and precious that mama and baby were. I guess most everything a poacher kills is, eventually, for eating--they sell its parts for $$ to feed their family. There are people selling giraffe bones, bone carvings and "trophies" in the US, completely legally. Giraffes aren't even a predator. What's the great glory in killing one? It's like killing a moose--the only challenge is finding it. Then it's like walking into a pasture and shooting a dairy cow.

According to the article it was not for meat. It was most certainly a poaching.

Looks like they just killed them for the fun of it. Hope the catch the bastards.
