Putin suggests Ashli Babbitt was victim of ‘assassination’ by Capitol Police

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is to meet President Joe Biden at a summit Wednesday, has suggested that the hundreds of people arrested for rioting at the U.S. Capitol are being subjected to “persecution for political opinions.”

Putin is likely to come under strong criticism from Biden at their meeting in Geneva for moves against his political opponents in Russia, particularly the imprisonment of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, the detention of thousands of demonstrators protesting his arrest, and the outlawing of Navalny’s organizations as extremist.

“You are presenting it as dissent and intolerance toward dissent in Russia. We view it completely differently,” he said in an interview with NBC News broadcast Monday. He then pointed to the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington when protesters barged into the Capitol to try to halt the count of electoral votes to certify Biden’s election victory over Donald Trump.

“Do you know that 450 individuals were arrested after entering the Congress? ... They came there with political demands,” he said.

Putin started life in the KGB, they mastered sowing descension and conflict in wester countries as a way to destabilize and weaken them long ago and Putin certainly hasn't forgotten his training.

Babbit is dead because she was part of a violent mob breaking through the last barrier to The Speaker's Lobby with lawmakers just a few feet beyond the next door.

There is no possible objective, informed observer who for a minute believes her being shot was not completely justified legally.

The first clue you are wrong is when you realize you're agreeing with Putin.

Those who broke through the barriers outside and then forced their way into the Capitol Building were intent on stopping the process of accepting the 2020 electoral votes, they deserved to be charged and convicted as appropriate.

Some came with announced intent to also kidnap and hold hostage lawmakers until their demands were met and entered with weapons and zip tie cuffs to accomplish it.

There's no arguing that some of them have been badly abused but that's what you get when you join a violent mob invading the Capitol when Congress is in special session.

Those who have been abused need to be made whole, the rest deserve lengthy prison sentences.

The "abused"description may be overstated.

No, people died due to the violence and the enormity of the insurrection. Roughly 5-6 people. Only one died from gunshot.
There was no enormity of insurrection. There was 60,000 people there. Had there been an insurrection we would not have a leader carrying the title of Fuck.

60000 people? What have you been smoking? The denials grow like a limp dick, yes?

Doesn't surprise me Putin sided with Trump on this. And defended Trump. Don't forget Putin is a murderer and liar too.

No, he is wrong. You could call it murder, but it wasnt an "assassination" by definition.
