If you want to blame someone for the US being asleep at the wheel while Russia developed hypersonic missile technology, you might start with who was around 10 years ago. It takes at least that long to develop a new missile technology. That would be Obama and his intelligence agencies.

Trump should have denounced Russia when they first announced they had them, but Trump is so busy with his bromance with Putin that he apparently doesn't care.

The Nuclear Arms Treaty that just broke up over the last year is the one that Reagan and Gorbachev drew up in the 80's.

Well, after being a leader for the most advanced weapons for the longest time, the US is now behind Russia in hypersonic military technology. Seems that they have now developed and are deploying hypersonic missiles, the latest one they have developed and are due to deploy in the next month or so can travel at 20 times the speed of sound, and can change direction mid flight.

Too bad Trump is spending so much time at his rallies, spewing Russian propaganda that the Ukraine messed with the elections and denouncing anyone not on his side to notice that the US has lagged behind on this.

Hate to say it, but these missiles sound more dangerous than ICBM's.

Putin says Russia is leading world in hypersonic weapons

MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that Russia has got a strong edge in designing new weapons and that it has become the only country in the world to deploy hypersonic weapons.

Speaking at a meeting with top military brass, Putin said that for the first time in history Russia is now leading the world in developing an entire new class of weapons unlike in the past when it was catching up with the United States.

The Russian leader noted that during Cold War times, the Soviet Union was behind the United States in designing the atomic bomb and building strategic bombers and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

“Now we have a situation that is unique in modern history when they are trying to catch up to us,” he said. “Not a single country has hypersonic weapons, let alone hypersonic weapons of intercontinental range.”

The Pentagon and the U.S. military services have been working on the development of hypersonic weapons in recent years, and Defense Secretary Mark Esper said in August that he believes “it’s probably a matter of a couple of years” before the U.S. has one. He has called it a priority as the military works to develop new long-range fire capabilities.

Till we see them in action..? Its entirely possible that the Russian claims are propaganda type misinformation. A deterrent designed to keep us from calling their bluff; and to divert our money toward programs intended to "catch up". While I realize that Russia has made this claim for years... I have yet to read a confirmed account of these missiles being used against anything...

Putin has no interest in expansionism.....he may seek to reclaim the former satellites....but beyond that his sense of restraint is largely due to the expense of warfare...Russia just cannot afford it. However they cannot afford to be vulnerable either.....that they are not.... No matter what we have for defense they have an arsenal that can and will decimate the entire North American continent even if Russia does not survive the war.....
No one is questioning that.

The biggest enemy to peace right now is China with Nato taking a close second place...
China does indeed want to expand and take over...they have a very dangerous philosophy.
NATO works for the oil companies who hate GAZPROM and therefore hate PUTIN. Almost 90 percent of all the military moves made in the past twenty years in and around Eastern Europe were shots called by the Oil companies using NATO troops to do their bidding.

Wonder if we have something that we are not bragging about. Seems that we always have things in the works long before anyone hears about it. I remember the SR-71, or even stealth tech.

They have already said they have created a laser system that can blow up incoming missiles. Kind of like Reagan's Star Wars defense system we laughed about in the 80's. Pretty sure they even tested it to blow up a dead satellite.

They also have those missiles that they try to intercept incoming missiles but they explode it when it is close and hope the shrapnel destroys the enemy rocket.

That's what you know about. Black projects usually don't get any notice until much later in development

A missle that is shot up to the stratosphere...say sixty miles high and then turns toward the earth at 90 degrees and comes down at full speed.....is the nightmare of any defender. It is nearly impossible to stop.

Here's a little anecdote for ya I got from being in the right place at the right time.....the Zuwalt is reportedly propelled by two Mitsubishi super turbines capable of 50 megawatts each. Now ask yourself this.....what the hell does one boat...even a big one need with 100 megwatts of capacity? Here you get some of the info but much of it is left out...

If the front of the ship is filled with a super capacitor bank....as I have been told....you're talking about rail gun technology that is currently alive and working out at sea.....the projectiles are just super polished aluminum alloy slugs that are rumored to reach velocities close to 4,000 m/s or about 8500 mph.....at that speed the impact would be so devastating as to be a one shot one kill scenario. A ten pound slug traveling at that rate would carry the destructive force as follows ( KE=.5 x m x v>2)..5x16,000,000 or 80 million pounds of impact force. Like getting hit with an aircraft carrier over the head.

While the Democrats have been spending all their time the last 3 years trying to un-do the 2016 Presidential election the Russians have been working on a new Intercontinental Hypersonic Weapon.

The Russian's success can reach speeds 27 times faster than the speed of sound in flight while Pelosi can't even get theirs out of the House and over to the Senate.
